Killzone + Metroid designers working on Halo 4

Even though the article is old i'm pretty sure this hasn't been posted yet. Seems 343i is paying some big money to get these people into the studio. I also believe not included in this report that an Ex Kojima employee who worked on MGS was hired by 343i (however i cannot remember what his position was).

343i must have some dough sitting around...

So? i'm pretty sure Halo 4 will be more in touch with previous Halos than with Killzone or Metroid.

At least Guerilla got Eric Boltjes (the guy that made KZ2 great and missed from KZ3 team) back :) KZ4 is in good hands!

Halo 4 is going to be great, This, Biohock infinite and the last guardian will be the top 3 games next year.

Ryan Payton. He was the assistant producer on MGS4, and as I understand it he's been given a lot of credit for modernizing the gameplay.

no doubt the xbox fan boys who said KZ and Metroid weren't good will be in saying this game is amazing but KZ & Metorid are c**p will probably still be a good game though for MP. SP has yet to be seen so we don't know

Well it's good to see that 343 is a legit studio. I was kind of worried that it was just a few ex-Bungie guys and some newer developers. Great to see established veterans backing up the Bungie guys.

As for Halo 4, I think it will be MS's last shot at squeezing power out of the 360. I would expect maybe running on Reach's engine (it's a great engine), but with major improvements. I'm hoping for Halo 5 to be either a launch title for the next Xbox or releasing 1 year after.

And this is why I have thought that 343 in charge has a lot of potential for doing the Halo series some good. I loved the past Halos, all the way up to Reach, but when people say 343 won't be able to do what Bungie did, I don't think that should neccesarily be looked at as a bad thing.

I think those who are impressed by this hiring of random talent are forgetting the lesson of Mistwalker. Many jrpg fans (including me) thought that given that Mistwalker was made up of a bunch of people who made some incredible, genre defining games in the past they would produce incredible, genre defining games in the future. Instead they were extremely timid designers whose games had lush visuals (and the massive budget needed to bring about lush visuals) but clung slavishly to 20 year old gameplay/game design conventions. As a result. MS eventually cut Mistwalker loose with little fanfare.

Throwing a bunch of random people together does not make a team.

I hope so. I liked the new environments of KZ3 (aside from the space stationscene) and most of the vehicle sergments (aside from the spaceship flying bit) but the fact that KZ3 abandoned the feel of its predecessor really disappointed me (I liked the fact that characters in KZ2 moved like guys wearing heavy body armor and carrying big weapons and that some weapons had serious recoil).

It´s interesting how the same old Halo formula still feels unique and fresh (untouched since Halo CE) and didnt turn like CoD/KZ/Medal of Honor/Battlefield/etc game yet :)

TBH, that sends a bit of a chill up mah spine :o :P though I'm sure 343i knows what they're doing and I'm just hoping MS now knows that Halo 4 should without question be the premiere launch title for their knew system. - My excitement for a new Halo on 360 will be only a small fraction as much comparatively.
