Apparently, MS has SHIPPED 8 million kinect units, not sold. So either Balmer misspoke or blamer misspoke. this is what happens when NPDs out the window. SONy doing shipped, adn now MS is doing shipped. I assume 50 million console sold is real sales though, unless a article comes up later on proving that wrong.

Both Sony, and Microsoft say sold and they still mean shipped they don't differentiate.

No, if true then SONy has SOLD 4 million ior so Move units. there is constant debates if shipped equal sold, and rarely does it mean actual sales. Are we seriously flip flopping on this?Alot of threads on this board are ones about how shipped does not equal sold.

They mean sold as in sold to retailers. After that point Sony and MS don't care what happens. They got their money.

peopel are crowing that Kinect SOLD 8 million. It did not. It shipped, which is not the same thing or mean the same thing. I was under the impression taht we dont care about shipped? Unless, again, this has flip flopped at the whim of the fanboys here?

but to say they SOLD 8 million (which they did say) is inaccurate and people in the CES thread were going crazy at that number. 8 million people do not have Kinect. We dont even know how many peopel have yet.

From all those threads and articles whenever SONY comes out and says they shipped alot of a product and everyone lols and says who cares. Does the Shipped not meaning anything only apply to SONY? They said they shipped 4 million Move units, people scoffed. MS says they ship 8 million kinect, people cheer?

All numbers released by the platform holders are shipped unless a tracker is specified or they explicitly state they are sold-through.

I just lol at the hypocracy. I can almost gurantee you I will find come friday podcasts saying how impressed they are with that 8 million shipped number, yet if I go back and listen to their podcast when the Move shipped numbers came out, they scoffed at them.

tell that to the commentors in those Move shipped 4 million that said its not real sales and the people on websites adn podcasts that did the same thing. im not a conspiracey theorist, but thats pretty sketchy.
