For those who don't know what 32X was - it was an expensive add-on for the Genesis/MD which came out near the end of Genesis/MD's life cycle and increased it's graphics capabilites. Now Kinect doesn't do anything for the graphics and isn't such a failure but the parallels are apparent to me. Sega also advertised the 32X as the next best thing although the add-on failed to deliver. It had a very limited selection of games (mostly enhanced Genesis ports) and lasted only a short time. Kinect could get more games and last longer but it's obvious MS is trying to force it on core gamers. But do core gamers really want it? Judging by myself I'd rather see better and more original games instead of some forced gimmicks and perhaps a glimpse of a new console. So what MS is doing is really trying to shove Kinect down the gamer's throats.

I think it's already sold more than the 32x so to answer your question, No it's not another 32x and will be around longer than the 32x

Huh, bad analogy is bad. :P

Yeah, I think it was consumers shoving 150 bucks at a time down MS's throat and breaking sales records. Yup, just like 32X. :P

32X only sold 665,000 units ... the Kinect is in excess of 10 million, so one can safely say that it is more than likely to be around a lot longer than the 32X

In answer to the other part of your question ... yes I do think MS are forcing something down the throat of gamers who dont necessarily want it.

I didn't mean in terms of sales but rather how MS is trying to force it on gamers instead of making better and more original games or perhaps announcing a new console.

I don't think the 32X was supported anywhere near as much as Kinect, nor has it sold over 10 million units.

So, no it isn't. this is like people saying the 360 is the next Dreamcast, and just as inaccurate. They aren't trying to shove anything down your throat, you have the option not to buy it.

they are trying to force it on gamers? odd I choose not to buy it...I choose not to buy kinect controlled games...its that easy...Its not like there is this plathoria of games I want that require kinect to even work..as for that the 32x wasn't forced on anyone either it wasn't like all future games on the genesis wouldn't work without the 32x..

Really? You meant something like these are much better than Kinect? Also, why do we have these kind of stupid threads all the time. "Remember, no one is pointing a gun at your head and force you to buy it, except....THE PS3 BLOOMBERG"

They are hardly shoving it down our throats. Core games may support kinect, but they arent turning core games like Halo anniversary and Forza 4 into kinect only.
