This is might opinion too since day one. I mean the idea sure is appealing, but it will never work with that hardware. Besides whats been said here, facial recognition? Does anyone actually thinks it will work? Voice recognition on windows is bad already, and nippicking a little, look at the worried emoticon on MSN live, looks more like upset than worried :P This is gonna be just like HD-DVD add on, lemmings will say its great and everyday they'll post links about how great its selling and how its "beating" Move and then one day MS just drops it and there goes 150USD...

Just the fact they acted (Star Wars) demonstrating it, and fails every time they let people try it says something don't you think?

The camera that gets the dept as a resolution of 320×240 and gets only 30 frames per sec...

Kinect will be a failure but it will sell for the first few months due to the 200 million in advertising. Move destroys kinect in gameplay, a few decent launch titles alot more confirmed, variety gameplay options, support for retail games and the last 2 has been getting great reviews (heavy rain, mag 2.0).

I though you were talking Sony aboutto abandon the Sixaxis (see, rumble was so last gen) and return to regular controller with the old tech (rumble included now). Oh wait, I forgot that the Sixaxis was in the history book 2 years ago. Where have the Sony fanboys been? Didn't you fanboys declare the Sixaxis was so revolutionary that it would change the gaming world forever back in 2006? So, what has happened to it 2 years ago? As for Kinect, all of the Sony fanboys have pledged that you don't care, don't buy, don't post about Kinect anymore? And wouldn't you fanboys worry about the support for the Move? Since TGS 2010, Kinect has 7 new titles from the 3rd parties. Where is the support for the Move now especial from Japan's 3rd parties? It looks like Move will be a second Sixaxis one more time.

Haven't we already read about Kinect's future failure just about a few thousand times a week. Don't be so impatient, just wait the few weeks then you can make a thread about its actual failure.

One problem: Kinect is a peripheral to the XBOX 360. New control scheme to the same console. Atari 5200 and Atari 2600 are two different consoles. Comparison mostly thus void.

no.

I think these topics should be created daily.

It only makes the stakes even higher.

If Kinnect does flop then Cows can feel validated all year round.

If Kinnect is successful...well there is definately a lot of reference material here for ownage.

Because Sony fanboys were so afraid to compare Kinect and the Sixaxis as the peripheries. However, the Sixaxis easily takes the cake because it was the biggest and the worst peripheral failure in the gaming history since it included in very PS3 but Sony somehow @#@% it up so badly. Now without 3rd party support again, Move is next to the Sixaxis in a museum somewhere on this planet.

Kinect is not replacing the standard controller, where in the world did you get that idea? Motion controls can't work perfectly with every game. If they did, the Wii would not support Gamecube and Classic Controllers for certain games. Even as motion controls grow in popularity, there will still be support for classic controllers.

Microsoft still supports the old 360 controller, and nothing has been hinted that they will ditch it completely for Kinect.

By the way, you're a little off about the 5200's history The 5200 was created in response to more powerful systems like the Intelevision and Colecovision that had emerged and were starting to nip away at Atari's control of the home video game market. What killed the 5200 was a lack of attention by Atari(they were still more focused on the 2600) and the fact that the console came out on the eve of the Video Game Crash. Honestly, the 5200 never had a chance to attact consumers. By the time the console released, the market was already faltering as it moved toward the crash.

If anything, Kinect is closer to the 32X, Sega CD, Famicom Disc System, and 64DD. Its an add-on for an existing system that expand the capabilities of the core system to do things that would not be possible on the ordinal hardware.

well I think alot of people are very scared of it being successful because of how outspoken they have been on a product they havent tried. Take it from someone who has tried it, its very fun, it will have a better launch lineup than MOVE which isnt hard due to the pathetic launch, and it is going to continue to grow and be tweaked. Lets stop using advertising as to the reason why its going to sell like hotcakes as well !!!!

First let me say I have no interest in Kinect, but if people on here think Kinect will not sell they are crazy. As soon as someone finds out I am into video games the first thing that ask me about is Kinect, or that Microsoft camera thingy. People are looking forward to exercising and dancing with no controller. Those two genres alone will sell the crap out of Kinect.

So people are just taking the tips for trouble shooting and making them the facts that you need to do to play kinect. I have no problems with the trouble shooting tips, it makes sense, if your in a navy blue room and you were standing in front of the wall wearing a navy blue jogging suit it might not recongnize you as well as it would if you were wearing something different, makes sense huh.

Most people will by kinect and use it as a way to browse their menus, as a camera(which is the reason I haven't gota camera for my xbox, I'm waiting for kinect.), and to play casual games with friends. If something really great ends up coming out for it thats great if not it will be neat for what its worth.

And complaining about the $150 price tag is kinda ridiculous, you have a $200-$500 console, if you got any GH or RB games you dished out $100 plus for the instruments and games, you pay $30-$50 a year for LIVE, if you wasted any kinda money on the super special additions of Halo, or COD, you can afford Kinect. If you want it or not is a different story.

your thinking of move. ms dont need to mix core games with kinect like sony does. kinect games are all new games that no other system can do. thats why its gonna make move and wii fall off the face of the earth this november. kinect will be the best thing for what motion control games are ment for. and thats the party games/fitness/sports/learning kids games... only reason ms is spending all its time on kinect games right now. is they wanted alot of launch games to draw in the none gamer/ kids crowd that made the wii a huge seller. with rummors of them buying up that one dev.that is a sign that they want more core games for 360 to use a controller. all sony is making for move is cheap demo type games on psn and taking on a a move option in their core games. they cant make or wont make a core game from the ground up for only move. that shows sony doesnt really want to support move imo. just like sixasix control/eye toy/ ps3 eye cam games before news of move using it as part of its control. i think move will end of getting mostly all wii ports of party type games...

Quick show of hands for anyone old enough to actually have played a 5200? *raises hand*getyeryayasout
I used to own a 5200 in the early 1980s (I am 35 years old today) and I remembered that my father have to go to a Sears repair shop to replace its controllers that stopped working. Fortunately, it send us replacement controllers in the mail. I do not see the Kinect like the Atari 5200 which is a different creature.

Kinect needs to have games that relate to it. Right now MS isn't being creative enough. You are the controler. Two arms for your sticks and slap yourself in the face and body parts for pressing buttons. Have on screen selection and it still is wack.
