Kinda bittersweet for me. On one hand I'm happy an independent developer that put so much work into such a huge game is getting rewarded. On the other hand a widely broken, buggy game selling means the industry has come to accept unpolished/unfinished games as a standard practice.

The game looks great to me and I will definitely be picking it up. I wouldn't worry about it being buggy and unoptimized because this is a small developer. Now that the game is out, they can work on patching it up.

Fun will always be king. A good game with bugs or bad graphics won't matter if the gameplay is tops.

Bethesda already made that socially acceptable.

And nearly 50% of the sales are from PC although Steamspy has stated they're 3-4 days behind the real sales of the game. I wonder how many copies this game will move on GOG and if these numbers include the GOG preorders.

In all likelihood PC accounts for 50%+ of the total sales. Probably sold in the 600,000 range. Games like this are popular on PC.

I'll probably pick it up in a year on GoG when it's been heavily patched and possibly improved in a number of great ways. I'm surprised about some of its reception - many seem to love it, but others have warned the experience is sublimely bland and honestly it looks like it would be to me. But... I'm intrigued. It's on my docket

I just checked Steamspy and the numbers are now at 472k so its almost 50%. Once the modding community for this game takes off and the game goes on sale it will sell even more like crazy. People are hungry for a Elder Scrolls sequel and are willing to use KCD as a substitute since we won't be getting a new one anytime soon.

While I think Elder Scrolls are pretty terrible in terms of gameplay they do an unprecedented job at getting the player immersed into a very engrossing world. Can't deny they have some of the best world building out there.

Great news, the game is amazing!

I also love to see indie and small teams to get support. In my opinion that's where the best games come from.

That will be quite interesting as mod support for CryEngine 3 has been piss poor when compared to CryEngine 2....... Wonder if it's just the fan base loosing interest or the mod support in the engines themselves that has caused it.

I bought it on ps4 and have played it constantly since release. The game does need a lot of attention, another patch is dropping soon which hopefully addresses majority of the bugs.

Most of the mods now are gameplay/Ui tweaks or reshade presets. I think this game might take off on the Nexus. Maybe we'll see a utility equivalent Creation Kit in the future, but I just want the game fixed first.

Really great to hear Kingdom Come: Deliverance is selling well beyond expectations. While Kingdom Come: Deliverance isn't on my radar, it's always nice seeing a game selling well in today's over budget developments.

So much for the ResetEra smear campaign over the developers political beliefs, and Polygon's dumb articles portraying not enough PoC in the game.

The idea was actually pitched to a Czech billionaire investor who funded most of the development. source

I just played the first 3 hours of it or so (I left the first place.) and it has positively surprised me so far.

The only real weird thing (aside from saving and 'antidote' that cures all forms of poison but whatever) is the common existence of locks. I don't know that locks were all that common in that time period. Although most houses in the game don't seem to have locked doors, so maybe it's quite accurate? I find it very interesting so far from a gameplay and from a historic perspective.

I hear the bugs can get nasty so I am mentally prepped for that.

no what it is saying is the same thing other indie sales figures have been saying.

you can polish a turd but its still a turd, I want to play a good game, not a turd.

In other words, we are not looking for 'no bug simulators' we are looking for intresting game play, not crappy boring hand holding movies that call themselves games

Not interested. Game sounds too hard, save system is horrid and too many bugs.

I'll check it out in a year if they make a easy mode, fix the saving and bugs.

  • Save and Exit functionality
  • Lockpicking minigame controls improvement on controllers
  • Pickpocket minigame improvement
  • Alchemy recipe for respec potion
  • Many quest-related bug fixes

Who knows.

You guys keep mentioning game breaking glitches, but in over 35 hours playing the PS4 Pro version i haven't found any.

Yes, sometimes the textures last a bit to load, but that's all. From my experience the game looks incredible and performs very well, even on consoles.

well that is how I see it.

I read posts of people complaining about the developer honesty, developer communication, community, payment models and bugs

people that focus on that and are dismissive or dont even address game design or game experience..are not gamers

reason is...I can create an absolutly bug free game, solid FPS and just rock solid in all those respects.

but actually playing the game is boring a balls

so bugs and performance really are not that important as non-gamers think

ok..

like I said are you sure you want to be a sounding board for my point?

my point that so called gamers who focus only on bugs and performance and never even address game play are not in my view 'real gamers'

a developer with not a single creative bone in their body can create a bug free boring fest highly performing game that people want to shoot themsevles for playing because its so boring.

thus...bugs and performance are not as important in game play experience as non-gamers think

Bugs and performance are not mutually exclusive genius. Just because a game has good gameplay doesn't mean I'll just ignore its technical issues. Especially when you know a game that performs like ass and is broken across the board is hard to enjoy. Technical problems do impact the gameplay in a negative way. So yes your posts are still nonsense.

A "bug free" game isn't inherently boring. Nor is a bug the product of creativity.

Bugs and performance are not mutually exclusive genius....

which of course has nothing to do with my point.

My point is that bugs and performance are lower on the list of importance compared to game play experience.

When I play a game the actual game is what I am playing, bugs and performance are really not what I am playing. I am not sure how to explain it or why its so hard for non-gamers to understand this.

Here is an example, if I play a game for 2 hours and then BAM a bug is there, I notice that the planet is glitching out. Do I suddenly not enjoy the game as much as lets say Call of Duty that is solid without any game bugs?

no absolutely not

Game bugs are not that important.

what gamers want is NOT a bug free game experience, what they want is a compelling game play

bugs are NOT relevant to a games quality in fact.

Wrong. Bugs are entirely related to the quality of a game. The same game without bugs > the game with bugs. I'm not sure you're even trying to be reasonable.

He is not agreeing with you dingus.

so basically lets take an example:

I found Fallout 3 to be unbearably boring, frustrating and hand holding. Its bug free, performs well but the gaming experience was horrid.

I adore 7 days to die and I have almost 1000 hours in the game, I have FUN in the game, I feel fun in my bones, I do not feel fun in my bones with I play Fallout 3.

So would I ever in my life stop playing 7DTD if someone prooved to me that it had more bugs then Fallout 3?

no..absolutly not. and any 'real gamer' would understand that.

so why would anyone highlight bugs so much?

A "bug free" game isn't inherently boring. Nor is a bug the product of creativity.

no ...they are absolutely not relevant to quality of a game at all.

quality is the game play experience...and yes 'its subjective' but that is where the quality lies subjective or not.

there are plenty of games that are bug free and horribly boring to play, its not a measure of quality.

if you are not measuring a games quality on fun to play as far as I am concerned your not a real gamer because its why we play
