That's awesome! Kirby's Dream Land was one of my favourite games EVER... I played the hell out of that on the Game Boy. I haven't been really keeping track of Nintendo releases, having just purchased a Wii recently, and I was wondering if they ever released or were going to release a spiritual successor to that game on the Wii. Kirby's Epic Yarn looked pretty different...
So 8.5/10 and no GOTY nominations in any category on Gamespot. Anyways... I've never been much interested in Kirby. KEY was an excellent game, but there is just something about the whole Kirby formula that has never appealed to me. I doubt I will get this at any point.
If KIrby: RTD did get 10/10 here, I would buy 100 copies and donate 99 of them to the poor. :) And if it wont GOTY, I'd buy everyone on my friend's list here in GS a copy of the game... :P I almost wish Kirby did win GOTY just to see the reaction on people's faces :P
I'm glad I'm not a 'professional video game reviewer" as I could never justify a 'perfect' rating for any game, no matter how great I think it is or how much I'm a fan of the genre - there are always improvements that can be made. 10/10 for any game means everyone who plays it should love it. I've never found myself drawn to Kirby and find it difficult that other non-kirby fans would find it worth the price tag. With all that said, if you're a fan of Kirby, then perhaps it's the game you've been waiting years for - a 'perfect' sequel/remake.
Even NP gave it a 8.5, not likely that it will score higher then that on GS.EndlessPunisher
Yeah. Not to mention it isn't a blockbuster title with an enormous budget and marketing campaign so 9.0-10 is off limits on GS. :P Seriously though, I hope it scores well. I'll probably get it sometime.

Just bought it today on a whim.... saw a deal to get Kirby Epic Yarn for $10 if I bought the new one.... thought, hey why not... even if I dont have time for it, my son will love them.

It is excellent but it plays very differently. Kirby can't even suck up enemies!

I dont think a 10 means perfect, as no game is perfect. A 10/10 does not mean everyone who plays it will love it, not everyone has the same tastes. Your 10/10 statement is impossible. Mario Galaxy 2 got a ten, but not everyone likes platformers or Mario. If you are going to have a number scale of 1-10 or whatever, then the whole scale should be used. If a 10 was never given because 10 means perfect, then that would make 9.5 the highest score possible, also making it a perfect score.

If you can't hand out a "perfect" score, then your entire system falls apart due to a paradox. That is the thing about a 100% score, it doesn't MEAN perfect, it just means best thing available at that time.
