What is kodu? Well, to put it simply, it's a game. That being said, it's most equatable to rpg maker, but for games. Sort of.

It was actually announced a day before Little Big Planet. Not saying that it's doing the same thing, but obviously they're similar. But again, LBP is about creating your own levels. Kodu is basically about creating your own games.

Here's a demonstration, because to put it simply, it's something based on how well you use it. That girl did not use it well.

it's launching on the XBL community game channel (minimum price $2, maximum $12). Why the low price? It's being made by an experimental, sort of innovative, branch at MGS.

No, this is not a programming language, sorry, but it isn't. It's a good intro to the thinking behind programming, much like rpg maker, but it's completely idfferent. I the best things would be Banjo and LBP, but subtract the game part and let you build that yourself

Can you say 2d platformer shoot em ups! yay!!!

Will it have a community where you DL other people's creations for free or will you be limited to your own creations?

Looks good

Looks interesting, is there a release date on that thing? I'm guessing it's coming out for the Xbox 360.

I hope you don't have to go with the lame default art style. Something about the look of that game just tears me up...it's so ugly.

Kodu is a new visual programming language made specifically for creating games.

Why does everyone but the people who made it consistently call it a game? The people who created it (rightly) call it a programming language.

IDK, it just doesn't have the same "wow! factor" that LBP had.

Kodu is vastly more versatile than LBP, still has some limitations too

Things is, if it succeeds, we could see a proper game maker at some point, with even more freedom, better visuals and stronger model creator etc for the masses

That is the ultimate goal, a easy to use game maker, Kodu is a great start, definatly looking forward to it, LBP was just a level editor, it is nothing like Kodu

Yeah, well people are still gonna try call it a ripoff of LBP, let me just kill this (coming from a Cow btw, I'm just not blind):

Kodu was shown to the media for the first time before LBP. Back then known as Boku.

Also, you might want to know that Media Molecule (the studio that created LBP) was formed by Ex-Lionhead studio members. You know, the same Lionhead that is a subsidiary of Microsoft.
