Kojima Productions - Metal Gear Rising raising franchise up to the next step

"We're redoing the engine from scratch, and it's going to look amazing," says Eyestone. "It's going to be a big project like Metal Gear Solid 4. The entire team is serious about making it look as good as possible on every platform."

The title Rising is a pun of sorts. The Japanese pronunciation "Raijin" is a word play on a mythic Japanese storm god. The character name "Raiden" means "thunder and lightning" in Japanese. Geddit?

The title also has significance in English: "It's raising the Metal Gear franchise up to the next step."

I was hoping Kojima would remake MG and MG2. He disappointed me by focusing all his efforts on Peace Walker.

Id much rather just a MGS5, similar to MGS4. I doubt Rising will come close to how good MGS4 is especially without Kojima.

Edit: on topic, i think that if the game has a story based on Raiden after MGS2s journy to save sonny, his falling out with rose, and his transformation from Raiden into the next Cyborg Ninja, then it could be a great game.

I've ALWAYS been consistent with my crys for a Ninja Raiden. This isn't a normal Metal Gear game. Why do you guys keep trying to start crap with me? Tone it down, fella's. Stick to the game, not to me. It's becoming a problem. I think it's pretty obvious to 90% of people that this is a completely different Metal Gear. And I also like some of the franchise, but not MGS4. Deal with it. Opinions are like... well ya know, and they all stink. That's life. Move on.

I wonder what kind of artstyle Rising will have, can't wait to see some screenshots

I don't know if it had a name, but it was the dream sequence you get in prison, ONLY if you saved the game right there and quit. Then, upon bootup, you were playing a different game entirely, making you think you had a different game in your PS2. Another Kojima Mind game.

Not me, i cant wait for another go as big boss. I am a bit skeptical on how MGS rising will be, but not matter what ill buy it first day, beat it, and see how the team does with a MGS game without kojima.

Also to those saying its going to be a hack and slash, dont count on it, this will most likely take place after MGS2, so we will some stealth, gunplay, and of course sword play.

Watch, Kojima is tricking us into thinking this game is truelly about Raiden when it's about someone else entirely. *cough* MGS 2 *cough*

And I prefer MGS4-era Raiden to anyone in the franchise. Hackin' & slashin' badass. That's it. If I got to play as him in MGS4, then I would've loved it. His scenes were so epic.

I don't know enough to say if it will be good with absolute certainty, but I wouldn't be surprised if every Cow in SW bashes it to hell for being cross platform.

Exclusives are always hyped to be superior to cross platform games, regardless of if that cross platform game is good or not.

It takes place during Solid's Snakes escapades (As opposed to Naked Snake, etc.), it only makes sense.
