Froget the crappy 3D one from a few years ago.
A next gen one would work better I think. I would imagine a better point of view for the character (Gears of War, RE4 or RE5), next-gen physics and all sorts of cool stuff with the whip.
Too bad. The Xbox360 willl hold the game back.Hah, well at least they won't be wasting it on the Wii, that's good enough for me.

2d game?? please share with us how thats going to happen...its not like it requires a huge amount of space...
It probably would hold it back.. The reason has nothing to do with the hardware.. Just that the devs will feel that every one expects a 3d game to push the hardware to its limits.. I agree going 2d, castlevania SoTN is an amazing game.. I could only imagine how much quality and quanity they could do to the game.

what's wrong with a castlevania game on the Wii?

yeah, the game will have a ps3 version(maybe). and get waterdowned version on ps3 , just like madden08, cod3:D
you forgot f..e.a.r
IGA is scared of sales on the PS3. hah. I wonder how many other companies are 'scared' of releasing their game on the PS3... im looking at you Square. 8)Carmilla31IGA is overrated seriously. The only true great Castlevania game he's made is Dracula X:Nocturne in the Moonlight, and even that, you have to admit he took most everything from the first Dracula X (not done by him) and ripped off Metrod-**** And since then...nothing but rehashes and under-cooked 3D entries.
IMHO he's holding on the series progression, Konami should give it already to another dev.
Why are you people whining for another 2d Castlevania?! There's been like 4 new Castlevania's out on the DS/GBA, a PSP version coming out and you want ANOTHER 2d Castlevania? Change it up a bit and make it 3d but done right this time. There's so many possibilities with the technology of games nowadays to bring Castlevania to a whole new level. Disturbed_One98
Yeah you know 3d games are SO rare, every console just has top rated 2d side scrollers up to their necks.. :|
shut up people...a next-gen GOOD 3D Castlevania = Better than next-gen 2D castlevania-D3MO-
Uhhh no.. Some of the side scroller Castlevania's such as SoTN are some of the best games people have played to this day.. We already have a overabundence of bleeding edge 3d graphics, 2d Castlevania would be great on so many levels.. It would make play times immensely large due to the fact the people would not need to spend time and effort making a ellaborate 3d engine.. Not to mention they could possibly add a multiplyaer Co-Op.

You can only do so much on a next gen console to enhance a 2d game. No doubt the 2d Castlevania's are amazing, but it's about time to show a 3d version some justice. It's also not the fact the 3d games are not rare, but rather a good rpg/platformer in next gen glory is few and far between nowadays. I love platformers and Castlevania has a lot of those elements and I personally would love that.

A co-op mode could be interesting, but again there could be more flexibility with a 3d engine. Think of all of the online mutlitplayer possibilities in 3d. It would be interesting if you could carry your character over from SP to MP to use in combat if there are a lot of items in the game.

oday in our interview with Koji Igarashi (which we'll be posting the full transcript of in the coming days) Konami's Igarashi divulged to Game Informer Online that he's already knows which platforms his next Castlevania games will appear on. His next Castlevania project will be for the Nintendo DS and will not be a remake like Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles and will be all new. This game is currently well into development, however, when it will actually shown is unknown. However, if history repeats itself, Castlevania titles are always revealed in North America - and usually at their Spring Gamers Day.
Considering it's been quite a while since Konami has released a true home-console version of Castlevania, it's no surprise that after the next DS project Igarashi plans on releasing a new Castlevania title on the Xbox 360, and possibly the PlayStation 3. That is, if PlayStation 3 sales pick up. Also, whether it will be 3D, much like the last few PS2 titles, is also undermined at this time. It looks like Igarashi-san may want to try his hand at finally making a 2D version of Castlevania.
Finally, now that Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles has been approved in North America, Igarashi-san has one more secret to reveal about that game. Secret character Maria, who originally was only available in the Saturn version of Symphony of the Night will be available once again, yet exclusively in the PSP version of Symphony of the Night that will be featured in Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles. Maria apparently has been completely redesigned and optimized for this version of the game. Maria will have all new attacks and will be able to summon a number of animals to help her in her quests, including an owl that not only can be used as a projectile, but help her fly to new areas, a cat, tiger and a turtle shell to be used as a shield.
We'll have the full transcript of our interview with Igarashi-san next week.jrpgliker
i lone castelvania but they have never been able to make a good 3d one for some reason
does anyone know who took responsibility for castlevania before IGA was put on it?
Also DS castlevania well into development, good times for DS owners as always

i would like to have a 2d castlevania for wii were u just hold the wiimote side ways like the nes padI feel like I'm the only one who doesn't mind it being in 3d.waynehead895
I don't mind it either, I had a blast with Lament of Innocence. They should give 3D another chance.
Y'know if konami actually bothered they could create an amazing castlevania game. The pacing and style are completly right for a 3D game.ShazenabThe problem is the IGA really, he can only make games one way it seems.
Anyone who's old enough would remember that Castlevania was THE flagship franchise of Konami, not Metal Gear as it is now. Every Castlevania release on consoles until Nocturne, was seen as epic, and had much hype behind it, now Castlevania is on a generic yearly release for handhelds, to relegate the once-upon-a-time company's flagship franchise to handhelds, is what has happened since IGA took the series, he has failed the franchise IMHO.
And for all people who keep saying how Castlevania doesn't work in 3D, people were saying the very same thing about Metroid and Ninja Gaiden. It just requires vision of the part of the devs.
