But the games will probably be crap without the key people who made them. What are your thoughts?

http://gonintendo.com/stories/243173-konami-says-they-ll-continue-to-support-consoles-and-their-big-fr

Coming from a Konami rep...

“I can promise you that we’re definitely not leaving Metal Gear behind or anything like that. I know some blogs were claiming that online this morning, but I’m not really sure where they’d be getting that from. We’re still definitely working on console games and franchises such as Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, PES and all the rest.”

There were some reports that Konami was moving away completely from console gaming.

I would be fine with more Silent Hill, Castlevania and PES.....they shouldn't touch MGS.

Konami is disproving that RUMOR that they will only make mobile games...so, that RUMOR wasn't true?

lol.

Anyways, they will follow the money as a company should. Too bad about the talent exodus. Capcom went through the same thing over the last decade.

It hasn't been good for Capcom fans, and I'm sure Konami fans will suffer (I'm one), but whatever.

This might be my last Konami purchase for the next couple of years:

All I know is that PES 2016 is probably the best football game I've ever played...

The problem Konami will face is how do you expect any of their IPs to bounce back when all the talent used to make those games isn't there?

Silent Hill doesn't have a team silent anymore, the remnants of that studio are the people who make Siren.

Kojima is gone, and for all his sins, he is a big part of the reason why MGS has always played well. And for the people that love his shitty stories...I mean he is the writer too.

Castlevania? OG Castlevania team is gone, Igarashi is doing his stuff somewhere else, and is that Lord of Shadows studio really going to get another run? Lord of Shadows 2 did terrible.

I'd love to see Konami be smart and maybe out source their IPs to developers with talent, hell I just really want a sequel to Metal Gear Rising, but it's hard to take any of Konami's future decisions all that seriously given the reports about that company in the last year and just all the talent that no longer works there. If anything I see them ending up like Capcom, current day capcom, that shell that has the name Capcom.

Other than picking up Phantom Pain, I'd rather not touch another of their games after they refused to patch the Silent Hill collection on the Xbox 360.

What the...did you live in a cave or only play games on select platforms?

lol.

The Godly Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Silent Hill, PES Soccer, Beatmania, X-Men the Arcade game, GuitarFreaks, Karaoke Revolution, Zone of the Enders, Dance Dance Revolution, Silent Scope, Pro Evolution Soccer (Winning 11), various TMNT, and Shadow of Destiny say hello.

I love their old games too, but c'mon, they got even better after the SNES, directly after the SNES with PS1. I see your are a N64 fan as it's in your name. Maybe you just skipped right over amazing Konami games in the PS1 era since they didn't release on the N64. The same could be said of Capcom (Street Fighter, Megaman, RE, etc) back then. That's why I didn't only game on N64 back then as there were giant holes in the 3rd party library.

Yeah right.

Anyway, phew at least they're still making Pro Evo games, that's the main thing.

Does this mean Metal Gear Solid 6 could be a farming sim facebook game? lmao

Actually good part is we may see a decent conclusion to the MGS series now that Kojima is gone.

And I want a Metal gear 1 and 2 remake.

Do it Konami, redeem yourself

The talent is gone so if they try to make a game with their current staff and it flops they will blame it on gamers and not admit their own mistakes.

Silent Hill should be given to Toiyma who is at Sony Japan or even Kojima when he rises with his own studio.

Castlevania. Well igarashi is busy so give it to Nintendo and they'll make an excellent metroidvania out of it.

As for Metal Gear, they'll probably do it themselves They'll try to copy Kojima too lol and fail or give it to Capcom or PLat games.

Now that Kojima, Igarashi and Team Silent have left... The only good dev team Konami have left is PES Productions.

They pretty much screwed over everybody last thing I heard. If there's any truth to the stories they shouldn't even be allowed to sell their games, let alone consider having a future.

Konami at the minute quite literally wants to watch the world burn.

They won't ever sell off their IPs and they'll keep bold face lying like this saying they'll keep making console games when we all know those franchises are destined to pachinko and nothing more.

Konami please just pack up shop and sell your IPs please. You'll still make a lot of gambling money with out them.

Err I don't get that statement. How is it newsworthy to report a games company is continuing to make games after someone else already said they will be producing less than AAA versions of them. Nobody said they would stop making games just that they would make shittier versions of them.

When a company has to physically come out and squash a rumor because of bad PR, its usually polite for media to update their false rumors.

True. That and they'll probably cash in more on Yu-Gi-Oh while that series will STILL be at it's worst.

I'd be shocked if we don't get another metal gear game. Can't see them let the engine, & all the money they spent go to waste. At the very least, they let someone else handle it. I hope...

Just sell the console rights to sony and keep the gambling rights for yourselves. They already have team silent who made siren, they made the best castlevania game since the 90s with From in Bloodborne, MGS has strong ties to their brand and I'd love to see MGS4.5 with the fox engine as I much preferred it to the shallow MGS5 single player.

I don't see anyone else being able to do right by those franchises.

There's a lot of money to be made from the IP. Doubt konami wants to part with it. Shame because MGS4 & MGS3 stand to benefit a lot from the engine.

Konami found themselves in a 343 situation. Except it's really on a greater level now because after the pachinko shit no one trusts them.

Although to be honest, if they attempt to revive castlevania as far as I'm concerned they can only make it a better game than mercury steam provided.

To be honest I don't believe a word Konami says.

Exactly what I was trying to tell the Kojima-natics. Konami has some fan-freaking-tastic franchises outside of the ones Kojima made. Heck even on N64 there were great Konami titles, the Mystical Ninja/Goemon games come to mind. They just can't give credit to them once the split happened because they are so hurt by Kojima's feelings being hurt. Kojima makes great stories and directs fantastic games sure but to dismiss all the other great franchises Konami has had over the years is just simply biased.

Similar, but I'd say more Capcom.

343 isn't a step down from Bungie. Halo is too old, stale, and slow and 343's idea of change is make it like everyone else. And anyone thinking Bungie was going to be any better taking that series in a new direction, is basically on crack. Otherwise Halo 5's beta is proof enough they can maintain the status quo with Halo, but present day Konami?

Capcom to me works more, because we have an excellent example of what happens to Capcom's franchises when the main guys leave. At this point who do they have? Ono for fighting games, and he only does well when it's strictly Street Fighter, and the DMC3 dude, who is probably in a cave somewhere.

I actually think it will be pretty easy to take over the reigns for Silent Hill. We may not get a P.T. quality production but the games were steadily getting worse it wouldn't be hard to turn them into something more interesting.

They could start by not putting broken locks on nearly every building in the fucking game.

I don't see anyone else being able to do right by those franchises.

Other then the actual name recognition, there is literally no reason why any company should buy the rights for things like MGS, Silent Hill, or Castlevania.. What made those games unique were the atmosphere, and gameplay, something that can't be patented and they can make their own unique games already as spiritual successors.. We already are seeing it with the lead creator of Castlevania series doing his own kickstarter..

I mean the recent Silent Hill teaser demo literally had NOTHING to do with any of the previous Silent Hill games, and it could have been called something different and nothing would have changed..

So this idea that these companies buying these trademarks will some how equate to the series going on is absurd.. MGS was designed and developed by Kojima.. Him and his crew are gone.. What we basically will be seeing is what we have been seeing with things like the old Resident evil games vs RE6.. Pretty much similar in name only and a continuation of some muddled unimportant plotline... Nothing is stopping developers from making games like Castlevania, MGS, Silent Hill as new IP's, and just because they won't be called the specific IP they are based off doesn't mean they are going to be worse....
