Kotaku: 99.8% Confirmed - 40GB PS3 To Hit Australia On October 11 For AUD$699

Kotaku believes the 40gb Ps3 sku has been 99.8% confirmed:

"I've heard from multiple sources today, both from retailers (EB Games, JB Hi-Fi) and customers (cheers Musky!), that the 40GB PS3 is on its way to Australia on October 11, and will retail for AUD$699. When asked for comment, Sony would only offer:

We don't provide comment in relation to rumours or speculation such as this.

Which would be fine, were it not for the fact retailers across the country are already telling anyone and everyone walking in off the street about the thing. I'd say this puppy's as good as confirmed." kotaku

In AUS/NZD it costs alittle over 1000$ ;) yes we get screwed just as badly as europe. I ordered mine from america cause I saved over 600$ when it got it.

Hmm that is pretty reasonably here in Australia - hell the 360 costs $530 for the pro now - so the gap is closing.

Might actually buy one next year - in the meantime im going to keep ripping into my cousin for spending a $1000 AUD on a PS3.

Actually I wonder how much i'd get off if I traded my Slim PS2 + controllers..........

Because I got $120 AUD off my 360 for my Xbox 1 - when I traded, and I payed $80 for it at Cash Converters.
