The first one has the better overall story, but I also like the subplots of the second... I'd say I like them both equally. They are just so damn good.
Not gonna lie, didn't really like the second one all that much, that being said, I really didn't love the first one. Solid game, so i guess I'd choose the first one.
KOTOR 2 had better gameplay, a more interesting premise (it pushed the Star Wars universe in unique directions), and far better writing and choices. The ending wasn't as good (obviously) and it was lacking some charm, but I do think that it was better than KOTOR 1.
The first Kotor is more of a complete game with a more satisfying end. It gets the edge but I do enjoy the added depth and better writing in the second game.
KOTOR 1 hada interesting story, while KOTOR 2 had superior gameplay. Tough choice , I'll have to pick KOTOR 1 as it is more complete, but I would have picked KOTOR 2 if Lucas Arts didn't rush the damn thing (The first sign of Lucas Arts showing it dosn't like money).
Sith Lords. The first one had an ending... but everything else in the second game, story, characters, combat, role-playing elements, places, etc., were all hugely better. I loved both games... but the second one aside from its non-ending, was so much better.
I'd say they're about even. KotOR 2 had a better story, and much better antagonists. However, it's pacing is awful, the boss fights are a massive letdown, and the characters are just not interesting. Atton, Mira, and Kreia are cool, but the rest are completely forgettable (in fact, Visas is the only other one I remember). KotOR didn't have as many problems as KotOR 2 did. The high points weren't as high, but the low points weren't as low.
First one for sure. I still get the itch to go back and play it. Second game was good, but imo it was just the first game with a less interesting story.

I would say that KOTOR 1 had the better overall story, including the best plot twist of any video game.
KOTOR 2 had the vastly improved game design. It was especially nice that you started as a Jedi and could level up your force powers right out of the gate, even if you did still have to wait to get your light saber. The cIass specializations added so much to the Jedi experience too, and it was sick some of the moral choices you could make, along with influencing your party's morality.
KOTOR 1. But they're equal once you install the restored content mod for KOTOR 2.
And those who didn't play them on PC did it wrong.

Out of curiosity, why? The restored content mod basically fills in all the holes Obsidian couldn't due to Lucas arts rushing the game. Better fram rate, no glitches, more sub plots its just a bigger better experience.

Planeforger
Knights of the Old Republic II had a few minor improvements, but the level design was really bad. The environments were terrible, the fighting became tedious and repetitive at times, but in spite of that, I liked it a lot.
I'd choose the first game though because it was more fleshed out and original ( in terms of design, not story ) than the sequel. Like I said, the second one didn't improve too much on the gameplay or try to change things up a bit.

KOTOR 2 is a broken buggy piece of crap, with crap characters (except Kreia), boring locations (or just copy pasted from the first one) and a terrible ending.
Its close but I like the first game more. And also....... where is the real KOTOR 3!!!!therancors
Seeing what Bioware did with DA2, not sure now's the best moment to revive KOTOR.
I liked Kotor 1 more than 2.
The second Kotor is from Obsidian. It would be nice a Kotor 3 by CD Pojekt though hehe. So..................Loads of alien sex then?................I AGREE!
KOTOR is my 2nd favorite RPG from Bioware, one of the best, with very interesting characters.. but KOTOR2 is such a superior - overall - role playing experience, it's not even close, with the restored content mod ofcourse (i've heard that this is what Obsidian was aiming for in the first place, so i believe this is trully the original game).
You need to play it on the PC with the restored content to trully apreciate the masterpiece that is KOTOR2, playing it on the XBOX is a crime against humanity on so many levels..
