No:| KOTOR is a modified version of the DnD ruleset from Neverwinter Nights. The game is real time from appearance but its relaly turned based where the computer rolls dice constantly.sSubZerOo
precisely
And Final Fantasy XII uses modified version of ATB system that Final Fantasy has been using over a decade.
Which is known as ADB system.
Hmmm no. KotoR uses the D20 system.Panzer_Zwei
I Like that system.
The ATB system was better then the new one.

Not even close.
ADB system is basically same as ATB system that gets rid of randomly generated battles and not requiring seperate battle mode for fights.
Also instead of waiting to give command, ADB system gives command and waits for action. Given the freedom you can experience with ADB system and motion involved in it, ADB system is much better than ATB system.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D20_Systemdoes kotor have a gambit system?
Mad_Rhetoric
That explains the system used in KotoR.
does kotor have a gambit system?
Mad_Rhetoric
Yes and no. High stats remove the gambit, while low stats make crtitical hits as well as DC saves, fortitiude saves and will saves more of a gamble.
D20 system is brilliant. It has rules for every possible situation you can imagine.
"You walking back to you're house after a day's work in the Elven craftsman Fair, suddenly you're teleported inside a Gundam being pulled by the gravitational field of a quasar!"
Kotor only uses a small subset but still is awesome, very balaced system.
[QUOTE="bulletmath"]nope, i've played both and FF12 was superiorfoxhound_fox
DAMN YOU AND YOUR LOGIC!!!!!
seriously though, which one did you like better and why? i thought KOTOR's was more "realistic" but FF12's just felt better and had a greater strategic element (thanks to gambits)

Frankly, here's the deal. What I just can't put down about KOTOR is the mystique of being a Jedi. I mean Jade Empire has almost the same system and frankly that doesn't really do it for me.
If KOTOR did a sequel that was similar to any other RPG I'd be a sucker and buy it, not so much because of the system but because I'm such a Star Wars and Jedi geek.
[QUOTE="Shusty_lives"]This is easy. The best combat system is Virtua Fighter.TriangleHard
LMAO
It is true in a way lol.

i think you were asking for it.
The only thing about KOTOR's combat system I feel I have to complain is the fact that there's no shortcut for your actions. (Xbox version)
Does that happen on the PC version as well ?
