Honestly, i got a PS3 just for this game, im a pc gamer, so i waned to try something different. Let me put i this way, Some of the Answers can b Frustrating, How do we differ Doubt from Lie? Honestly Doubt and Lie Options are to similar, sometimes u get it right or wrong, and there's no point of having both Game has also Horrible Frame Rates. every time im chasing a Guy, i can see my frame rates just Lagging horrible. The cases are cool, the story is good, but it lacks Action, The buildings of the City are repetitive the pedestrians are repetitive Characters. The part where u r chasing down a bad guy and he gets a Hostage, then u hav to shot him without killing the Hostage it get repetitive. This game feels like they spent 4 years on the Facial Animation rather than other stuff in the game. It feels im just in a wagon and the game plays for itself. i just need to press "x" or "y" and that's what this game is all about, pressing Bottoms. Im sorry but its boring, it feels im playing GTA4 but with restrictions, to kill pedestrians or become a bad cop.

I like the game but it makes me laugh hwo so many reviews gave it such a high score with such crap Framerate.

Its like if its a smaller dev these FPS issues would be MUCH more of a problem and I bet it would ahve gotten lower scores. But since its a big high profile game that Rockstar has a hand in reviewers look over those things.

im not a fan boy, a gamer should enjoy all consoles and pc, I just thibk we got ripped off with this game, $60 for a game based on gta4 engine, not to mention u rly dont play the game that much, most of it is cinematic scenes and sitting to ask questions, then goes to another cinematic scene, then sit to ask questions. Another problem, no matter if u mis all the answers, somehow u still can close the case, i mean, no matter if u sux at it, the case is gonna close, lol Imagine if u r playing cod or bf2 but u dont kill a single enemy in teh ingle player campaign, but somehow u can beat the game lol La noire is that, no matter how bad u do , u till gonna beat the game,

It is not a bad game by any chance, It is quite good. I agree that there are frame-rate issues, but I don't about the action thing. The focus isn't on action for one. It's on investigation.

But I do agree with the fact that the 'principles' of the reviewers seem to be influenced by the budget and the names behind the game that they are reviewing. It's one of the many depressing things about many of these faux-game-journalism sites.

how about the Doubt and lie Options? Honestly this is the part i get mad at lol, U r asking questions but the person u r interrogating is rolling his eyes i, or looking to the sides, then it seems they r hiding something, so im like " ITS A LIE" and nope its a doubt, im mean what? How do u differ those 2 sometimes? then when u choose Doubt the person is actually lying,. So i did my research and it seems 87% of the ps3 community is choosing the wrong option when it comes to Lie or Doubt,

You cant accuse someone of lying unless you have evidence. Thats the bottom line. If you didnt investigate enough to find evidence to contradict what they are saying, then dont choose lie. You have to KNOW they are lying. Doubting is just if you think they are holding back.......like there is more to the story. You will know the difference if you do a good investigation. Otherwise, its just like real life, you dont know if you dont investigate. Seems pretty simple to me

half the battle with this game is that it is trial and error much like detective work in the 40's and 50's before the dawn of forensic sciences. There was a lot less to go on now we have DNA and various other things.

Homicide cases are relate back to one key point i wont hit at.

Liars tend to be much more erratic than those with doubtful ideas from what i noticed, most of them have more head movement.Doubt usually has eye contact for a few seconds then looks away, the liar tends not to focus on the person interoggating.

Ladies and gents we have a winnar!

If you were paying attention you would notice the first thing anyone accused of lying says is "You got no proof!" You should then go to the evidence page and prove that they are lying if you have the evidence. You can also back out and apologize if you are wrong..lol.

It's very satisfying.

I must say... if you soley buyign a game because of review scores then there lies the problem. That is a horrible approach to buying games. A little research and you would have definitely seen how the game plays and what it is about.

Thats not true. When you choose doubt, he simply digs for more info. When you choose lie, it goes to your notebook so you can choose the evidence that PROVES they are lying. Otherwise you simply dont have the evidence to back up your claim and get caught bluffing. Again, investigating more will make the differences clear. You cant choose lie if you dont have but 1 or 2 pieces of clues from the crime scene

you never ever get your notebook out with your evidence lists when its Doubt.Phelps just says your being economical with the truth and they tend to stop and let more information out.Never ever on doubt have i had the book out.

Here's an example.

Doubt = "I don't know who did it" or "I didn't hear a thing".

Lie = "I met with him at midnight" or "He was with me the whole time".

I honestly though the game was awesome. They promised us a detective game and that's what they gave us. That 9.0 gamespot gave it was spot on. Just keep in mind that they never promised a GTA.

Also, this game WOULD be boring for anyone with A.D.D.

When you use Lie you always have found the proper evidence wether it's in your notebook or not. Anyways I think peoples most major complaints is they walked into the game expecting a GTA experience and this game is far from it. It's Rockstars stigma they have created with making nothing but free roaming "do what you want" games. Team Bondi on the other hand made a restricted game in a open world, while I applaud them on having the massive open, I can see why some people get frustrated not being able to go on murder sprees "even though your a cop..."

When you take into account its running a open world larger then GTA4, Mafia 2or RDR thats not bad especially when its being done on a platform with 512 megs of ram.

Only Doubt if you think they aren't telling the whole truth. Only hit LIe if you have collected evidence to prove it. Pretty simple actually. Frame rate dips to 15fps at some points not that often. Get used to it. I didn't like it, but I have other reasons. It's not that I didn't understand the gameplay though.

The only time i ever experience low frame rates is when i walk through plants and trees.

I personally think the $60 i dished out was worth it. I'm experiencing something i've never experienced before in a game. Bringing something new to the table. Rockstar never disappoints.

not by much it gets dragged down quickly when it needs to render a lot, noticeable in Algonquin someties at night for some reason. Also LA noire runs steadily never had a problem or even a slight hiccup with it and its buttery smooth for me :S

Also im kinda laughing at the fact you think explosions and bullets magically make a game drop frames its actually more down to engine optimisation, how much is being processed by the machine at one given time and how difficult it is for the cpu/gpu to handle said task.If the texture is bigger then it needs to load more in etc etc and some post processing takes away from overall horsepower aswell.

More action: Yes.
Bigger map: No.
More characters: No. L.A. Noire has over 400 actors credited in the game.
More of everything: In terms of side missions and random stuff to do? Sure, but so does Red Dead Redemption. And the key difference between those games and L.A. Noire is that they're free roaming, open world games. L.A. Noire is a linear narrative SET in an open world, not unlike Mafia 2.
Better framerates: On PC, obviously GTAIV will have a better framerate. As far as the PS3 version of L.A. Noire vs. the PS3 version of GTAIV goes though, I can confidently say that L.A. Noire has the more stable and smoother framerate.

Basically, to use the analogy for all the people (myself included) that say L.A. Noire is like a mashup of GTA or Mafia and Heavy Rain, if you're not going into the game looking forward to the interrogations and adventure game side, you're gonna be disappointed.

If you're trying to play L.A. Noire like GTA, you're doing it wrong.

i'm renting the game at redbox in a couple weeks. How many days did it take you guys to beat it? I figure I probably will beat it in 3 days. 6 bucks should be a pretty good price to play to beat this game.

No. When the framerate drops to the low 20s while it was in the 30's a second ago, believe me, you would have to be NOT a human to NOT notice. And why is it not important? A game stuttering and jumpy as f*** takes you out of the immersion and never lets you enjoy the game, even it was very good. Hardly a problem to disregard. And framerate problems aren't just noticed by pc gamers, they are quite a lot of times mentioned in review of console games by many reviewing sites, most of which are console oriented anyway.

i'm renting the game at redbox in a couple weeks. How many days did it take you guys to beat it? I figure I probably will beat it in 3 days. 6 bucks should be a pretty good price to play to beat this game.

GojiMaster
It depends how much you'll play in in those 3 days. And it also depends what you mean by "beat" the game.

When you use Lie you always have found the proper evidence wether it's in your notebook or not. Anyways I think peoples most major complaints is they walked into the game expecting a GTA experience and this game is far from it. It's Rockstars stigma they have created with making nothing but free roaming "do what you want" games. Team Bondi on the other hand made a restricted game in a open world, while I applaud them on having the massive open, I can see why some people get frustrated not being able to go on murder sprees "even though your a cop..."Jynxzor

I personally love the gameplay and how its so caleld SLOWER, I really like this take on these kinds of games. The poor FPS is really my only issue I have with the game.

But I agree, I can see why people would not like this game if they are expecting GTA IV part 2 or Saints Row type of game, its a little slower pace (which I persoanlly like), just wish the FPS was better.

For my taste I like it more then GTA IV, just wish FPS could be better.

people are intimidated by police and interrogation along with being scared of repercussions of them saying something.Happens all the time in real life.

its not that its a slow game thats the problem, i love slow games! but its because its basically an interactive movie. crime scenes turn into you tapping A against everything chase scenes are so easy and are maybe 30 seconds long max interrogations are repitive - no evidence? dont pick lie. are his eyes moving about like a nervous fool? pick doubt. also theres no real story! each case is seperate from eachother, they all have their indivual story yes, but no matter what theyre all the same. cutscene of murder, tap A, find clue, talk to someone, chase someone, arrest! rubbish! i was actually enjoying the big mystery in the dahlia case, travelling around finding clues, chasing him in the creepy underground tunnels, and then what? one shot to the chest, cue stupid reload animation, case over!!!!!!! whatt!!!! really bad game imo

People are intimidated by police. Simple as that. Happens all the time.
