Since so many people here seem to throw around labels like feces. I figured I'd reiterate the definitions for these labels so that people can better understand what they are insulting each other with.
Hardcore Gamer: A gamer that plays games addictively to the point of becoming socially ostracised. Hardcore gamers will play games on binges and will give up eating, sleeping, social activities and showers for video games.
Casual: A person who buys the video game system for a reason other than video games. They generally don't like video games but may pick up the console as a cheap movie player ala PS2.
Casual Gamer: A gamer that has a narrow minded and unadventurous taste for games. Casual gamers will only play games of a specific genre due to some social stigma, like for instance; chooses not to play games due to the game being too kiddy/violent or lack of mention of Madden in the title.
Non Gamer: Someone who doesn't really go out and buy games themselves, but are not apprehensive towards playing games if they have the chance. Non gamers crave mini game compilations since they don't require any thought or skill to enjoy. Though this label does not make much sense, as non gamers play more games than casuals but this is the label they are stuck with.
Fanboy: A gamer who will limit themselves to a specific video game company due to being raised by the video game console as a child thus replacing their father figure with their respected faceless video game companies. People often tend to throw this term around carelessly. A fanboy will not purchase or play anything from their competitors, they blindly follow their leader regardless of logic or sanity. A person that values a video game company more than others but buys and plays video games regardless of manufacturer is a person with an opinion, call them uninformed if you like but they are not fanboys.
Gamer: Someone who plays a variety of games regardless of genre, company or stigma for the pure love of playing video games. A gamer can balance a social life along with their hobby but generally only plays the higher rated games.
