Lackluster Rise of the Tomb Raider pre-orders on amazon?

So recently I've been curious to see how RoTR pre-orders are fairing on amazon and this is what I found:

RoTR is only No.54 on the Xbox One category only, it isn't in the top 100 in general on either the UK and US amazon sites and doesn't even enter the top. 100 for the Xbox One category in America.

Anyone else think this guy will be a universal flop? (yes I know these change hourly but RoTR hasn't been in the top 100 in the US at all for nearly a week now)

Give it time, for the hype machine to start rolling around gamescom. It may not sell millions overnight, but i think it will still sell pretty well.

Shame this game is only for Xbox platforms.

Dude it has had time since E3 last month when they showed off nearly 30 minutes of gameplay, even Rare Replay is decimating RoTR.

I'm just going to assume that gamers have gotten wiser not pre-ordering games [some however I'll pre-order if the game I know I'm gonna play day one] since this gen has been hits and misses but anyways, my point is, no one wasn't impress with Rise of the Tomb Raider E3 trailer and can't say I'm surprise pre-orders are low and there's no telling if this game will deliver. I rather be safe to just wait for the reviews.

It's not about "getting wiser", even Star Wars Battlefront (a game getting notorious criticism due to the lack of content) is destroying Rise of the Tomb Raider, I'm betting everyone who isn't a diehard Xbox fan is just waiting for the inevitable PS4/PC release.

Why pre-order on Amazon when you get $15 back in Xbox One digital currency for pre-ordering it on at the Microsoft Store, and they have free launch day delivery at the online store. For that and every other game coming out in 2015.

Yeah, the last one sold better on Playstation did it not. MS must have payed big for the exclusivity, assuming it isn't ever coming to PS4 and only PC in the future. Still though, in my case I'll end up getting it on Xbox One this holiday.

I shan't, I refuse to support developers who essentially tell classic fans since the 90s that they're no longer their intended fanbase and would rather make a game catered around the fans that didn't even support the original all that much.

Calling it now, another reboot of TR is imminent.

Regardless rather it sold well on ether platform, SE consider it a failure from the first Tomb Raider reboot but later on, Tomb Raider sold well and SE claims this game wouldn't get the support without the help from MS. We both know this timely exclusive is bullshit and besides, the cows don't care for this game when they have Uncharted 4 and as well as Uncharted Collection coming soon.

Who cares? Tomb Raider was always pro Xbox since TR Legend. Since the PS brand took a huge hit in 2006 with the launch of the PS3 and Xbox's rise to fame. Doesn't affect the games quality. In fact the best Tomb Raiders came out last gen.

Why would a person not want to play another action adventure game? That's like saying no one cares about Halo 5 because CoD and Battlefront this year. If a PS4 owner wants to play RotTR, they can't. Uncharted is something else.

Um the two biggest TR communities seem to care, also no it wasn't. MS promoting the reboot didn't make it "pro-Xbox", this game here is the only pre-Xbox game of the series and it's easily the most controversial move in the history of it.

So yes, a good chunk of people care.

I don't feel like the Amazon sellers chart tells the complete story. Also, you can expect to see more interest in the game when it gets closer to release, and that's without taking the massive ad campaign into consideration.

Except the game was already in development with pre-orders for PS4 and PC already available until MS ruined that, people on other platforms clearly care due to the insane backlash this game has now received.

Eitherway they'll get it soon enough and that's probably a factor of these lame pre-order numbers.

Why is FFVII and Uncharted outdoing RoTR when neither of those come out till 2016 at the earliest, I don't think a massive ad campaign is going to help much at all at this point, the word of it being timed is out and even with an "impressive" E3 showing the pre-order numbers are still painfully low.

Hell even Mario Maker is outdoing it.

It's not even mid July, the game comes out in November, mystery solved.

It's not even 2016, Uncharted and FFVII are destroying it. It's not even November but Fallout 4 is destroying it.

No real point to pre-ordering this far in advance so it's not too surprising. Wonder though whether some people are waiting to hear when the PC/PS4 release dates are.

buying the game on the Xbox store usually comes out to £54.99 and don't get me started on GAME (£56.99)

Yes there get RoTR soon but I think the better questions is though, was anyone really impress what we saw from the trailers at E3? I honestly wasn't impress at all. That said, I'll just wait for the review on this one. Funny though, were talking about RoTR again, charizard1605 made a thread on his issue.

The mystery was solved since the 14th August 2014, it is timed and people will wait, not even placing the top 100 in general is pathetic (especially since the game is coming out this year)

I wasn't, it looks bugger all like Tomb Raider at this point. MS easily screwed the pooch on this move, now if it was timed Fallout 4 then they'd have a winner but a series like Tomb Raider......oh good lord.

E3's RoTR showcase was lackluster, and dull. I'm sure this plays a part in the lack of pre orders.

I think this might go down as the biggest disaster in the TR series history.

The Division is one of the most hyped games there is, Rare Replay has 30 games and is $30 and comes out in 3 weeks, and Forza is a more renowned and popular Xbox franchise that comes out two months earlier, this isn't hard to figure out... People are going to wait 16+ months? I hope they're ready for the wait while everyone else is playing it on Xbox.

Microsoft has Lara's face plastered all over E3 and went out their way to hype it up at E3, you just can't admit that the game is going to flop can you?

They'll be waiting 6 months or so, it's a holiday deal and everyone else isn't even getting the game in the top 100 spot, that's not very many people I think.

Well, UC is a premiere franchise, and FFVII is one of the most beloved games being remade(not to mention people have been asking for it since the ps2 era). No surprise in Mario Maker doing this well, the ip always sells, add level editor/creation, and you have a recipe for success.

How is it going to flop? Where does the basis for all of this shit you say come from? 6 months or so? There's documents floating around that state November 2016, that's 16 months from now....

Yes but Mario Maker isn't anywhere near as hyped up as TR, didn't have its face plastered on their E3 screen and didn't have Q&A sections devoted to it but it's still destroying RoTR.

People just have to admit that RoTR is going to flop and we can be good.

I still say without being bundled for free this Fall ROTR is going to have some disappointing sales. If Microsoft doesn't give it the Assassin's Creed Unity treatment it will not fare well.

It cannot succeed on Xbox only without being subsidized.

With Uncharted 4 delayed it probably would have made massive sales on PS4.

Only reason I'm not preordering is I'm waiting for holiday/black Friday deals.

Hmm lets see, the pre-orders are terrible, the game is getting an extreme amount of hate, no one was impressed by it at E3, MS are hyping the thing up and still no one cares and finally, THE GAMES DO THE WORST ON THE XBOX BRAND.

Oh you mean documents that were "found" by those guys that also gave out another bullshit rumor, it's an holiday exclusive and nothing more, it's coming to PS4 and PC within 6 months of the Xbox One version.

I couldn't be less hyped for this game right now.

What do they expect? They shut out 60% of the fanbase for the initial release and expect us to buy an X1 to play their game? **** that and **** them. As a fan of the series from the start, my and other long term fans see this as basically Square spitting in the face of the fanbase after sucking off Microsoft for cash while slitting Lara's throat and kicking her still bleeding corpse over a cliff.

Square has lost all business from me on all their series.

Ugh they're pre-orders 4+ months away and judging pre-orders anyway is stupid, what hate? You mean pissed off people who don't own an Xbox One, those people? No one? Yeah, you mean a few vocal people around here and you. They're barely hyping it at all, a few advertisements here and there and some videos, it's literally getting as much face time as any other big game. And? Who cares if a few hundred thousand less people buy it on Xbox, I don't care about that, should anyone? Why would you care?

So now you know more than people in the industry who have given out reliable information before with rare incidents of things being untrue? You know that it's going to release within 6 months? You know this? What is your source? Your own thoughts?

Looking at pre orders of tomb raider on amazon its at No.34 on the list. Going by the list and cow logic Rare collection is going to sell a megaton as it gear because they are at 7 and 9 respectively higher then all PS4 exclusives.

If I were to buy it, it would be on PS4. And yes, it will be on PS4. Even Phil Spencer admits it's a timed exclusive.
