Last Gen games that have aged well/poorly

So which games from last gen do you thing aged well and which ones do you think aged poorly?

To me games that usually age well are cartoonish ones like Wind Waker.

Silent Hill games from Last Gen have also Aged well.

Like Silent Hill 3.

The Elder Scrolls series has gotten better IMO.

I have gone back and still enjoyed MGS3 and RE4.

RE4 has aged extremely well.

Of course Wind Waker is the default answer.

But you also have MGS2, MGS3, FFX, Ico, SotC, Okami, Killer7, Viewtiful Joe, RE4, Chaos Theory, Castlevania LoI, Ninja Gaiden Black, etc..

Plenty of last gen games still look great today, but most of them are highly dependant on sty1e of course.

GOW1 aged pretty badly imo.

The older GTA titles aged poorly

Chronicles of riddick, Ninja Gaiden and conker live & reloaded have aged pretty well. God of War on the other hand... well, lets just say it was ugly already when it came out

Agreed on the first 3, but....GoW ugly when it came out?:?

I think GoW is one of the most mindless, button mashing, under-designed pieces of garbage to get a big name in the industry. I think Kratos is the most 2 dimensional cry baby douche bag of a character to come along in years.

But the game looked outstanding when it came out as far as consoles are concerned.

Shadow Tower Abyss has aged very well. You didn't play it and you should. It influenced RE4, Monster Hunter and of course Demon's Souls as this game is also a From Software title.

Kingdom Hearts has aged well, although the camera is always a nuisance.

DQ8 has also aged really well. The sound quality, art style and music is still fantastic. As well as Chaos Theory.

Final Fantasy X and XII imo aged well. The God of War games havent aged too well. KOTOR has aged well as well

aged well: ffx , ffx2 , and pretty much any game with statics environments

Aged bad: deus ex, Vice city, but the king to me is Baldurs gate, god that game is awful to play now

Ratchet and Clank Series, Jak and Daxter Trilogy, RE4, MGS3, God of Wars, SotC all look great

Aged well:

Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy (That game still looks fantastic for game made in 2003)

Beyond Good and Evil

TimeSplitters 2 (Graphically not much for this gen, but gameplay wise, we're good)

Cell shaded games always age well , we have gotten to the point where video games easily look better then cartoons on tv.

ESPN NFL 2K5? Madden needs to die.

jet Set Radio Future Super Mario Sunshine and Okami all probably aged the best for me.

Okami, but it's graphics are literally timeless, so no surprise.

Sword-Demon

Agreed on MP2. I replayed it a few months ago and it holds up very nicely with current gen games.

My PS3 was bundled with MGS4. I had never played any of the games in the series, but decided I would before playing MGS4. I must say those games age extremely well. Even the first one really wasn't all that bad (though because of circumstances the "aging" is inevitable). Along with that I still really enjoy Smash Bros: Melee and Timesplitters 2.

Anything made from the Source Engine. World of Warcraft is another that just keeps getting better looking. Blizzard and Valve squeeze more potential out of older engines better than any developer out there.

I think FF9 aged extremely well, while as FF10 didnt. Also source engine games aged very well.

Half Life 2 has aged well, still stands up to most newer releases

Well: halo CE halo 2 LoZ wind waker, jerk and daxter

Poorly: GOW, GTA

MGS 3 and SOTC.johny300

The last gen consoles were pretty good at running animation type graphcs. Something like ultimate spiderman on the PS2 still looks pretty good.

Games that go for an ultra realistic style always look pretty ropey after a couple of years.

Ico and SOTC both look good still. An HD update of these will be awesome.
