It's a great game but only number 1 because it's so recent. Plus even though the story holds up well on multiple playthroughs the encounters with infected are pretty fucking tedious to replay and the first few hours is still as mediocre as I thought they were when I first played through.
It might be in my top 20, buy nowhere near GOAT status. The list has FF8 above FF9. Halo Reach is on the list and Halo 2 isn't. FF6 is not even on this list. This is a horrible list. How on earth is Goldeneye in the top 10?
The order isn't even close to what I would have made, but most of the games I would have in the top 100 are there. Biggest gripes are the lack of Ninja Gaiden Black, Valkyria Chronicles, and The Last Remnant.
Definitely up there with the best. Not sure i'd confident enough in any game to ever proclaim it as the "best ever".

It's sort of baffling to me that of all the great games in the Civilization series, the first would be chosen for a list like this. I can understand somebody going with 2. I wouldn't agree with it, but I could understand it. I don't see how anyone would think 1 or 3 belong on the list while the others are not on it, though.
Not played Shenmue or Red Dead but I can respect all the other games that are in the top 10. The Last of Us at number one is probably due to how recently it came out but it can easily be justified for making the top 10.
So let me get this right. super mario brothers 3 and the original legend of zelda are nowhere to be found on a TOP 100 LIST? Really? This may be a sign that I'm getting too old to be looking at lists like this. Arguably the most recognizable, influential and iconic console of all time has ONE game on the list. Think I'll go sit on my rocking chair and talk about the weather cause I'm obviously an old man when it comes to these type of lists. Lol
Not gonna lie. I like most of the games on that list, but that particular order is horrid. Some of the games in front of Half Life 2 are embarrassing lol.

You mean you're on Besaid Island? The game will start getting better when you leave there in particular you'll get to see more combat/characters (so far you've basically only been fighting with Tidus - gets better when you get a three-character party setup), but the best parts of the game (a couple scenes aside) come after the blitzball tournament, which you're a few hours away from. Right now basically all you've been through in the game is some story setup and character introductions.

SMB3 probably should be on the list. I thought TLOZ was good, not great. I could see the logic in leaving SMB3 off the list since there are already a few Mario games on the list as it is, though.

Oh you mean after Yuna's first Sending? I don't remember how much combat there was up until where you are, I think maybe not too much. You'll start seeing some more in the forest. You're probably two hours away from blitzball tournament. Pretty minor spoilers ahead that just concern the party...
Around the blitzball tournament you'll also add Auron to your party, and a bit after that you'll add Rikku as well. They'll add some more to your possible play styles. I'll tell you in advance that Khimari and Lulu are completely outclassed by other characters, except Lulu in some of the early fights. Tidus/Yuna/Wakka/Auron/Rikku are all good, Tidus being a must-have in any party composition.
But if you don't like the FF-style turn-based combat, you probably won't like the gameplay going forward. If you do like it and just haven't seen enough battles, it should start picking up soon. One thing to note is that FFX is very story-driven and so it's also pretty linear. Just a warning in case you like more open-world games.
It's a bad list, but then again any list that I don't personally make is a pretty bad list.
But seriously, it's a really generic list of games. Looks like any other compilation of "high rated games from history that may or may not still be playable" meant to satisfy the widest possible audience.
I don't even know why places make "TOP 100" lists. Can someone ever really have 100 games so fresh on their mind that they know how to objectively/subjectively rate each of them together? I know there are many games I considered "great" 5-10 years ago, but that I won't play today.
