I can confirm this is NOT a mandatory recall.
They asked me to return all the product from my stores that were sent and I said "what if I dont' want to"......basically they said we can't force you if you want to keep them.
btw, I'm not a retailer....I rent games. I got this recall notice late yesterday so my guess is you're going to see stores not return them if their compeitior is actually selling them already.
Well I'm picking up Fable 2 at Circuit City today, hopefully I'll see LBP there and pick that up too, but if I don't see it there, I'll head over to my local Walmart and check if it's there, if not, oh well, I'll enjoy atleast one game. I believe stores like EBgames, GameStop, Game Crazy, etc. are the ones really following the recall.
Yea, LBP is still on sale at Wal*Mart here in North Carolina, i bought one last night with a copy of Fable 2. I think itll be more fun when more people have it so there will be more user generated levels, right now it seems mundane. But i know it will change. Fable 2 is SUPERB though, but some of the loading times are LOOOOOOOOOONG!! im talking about 20-30 seconds long:(
Walmart didn't care to follow the Recall? Does that mean I can get the version with the suspect lyrics? I hope so I hate censorship. GundamGuy0
Like I said above it's not a mandatory recall. They are telling retailers Sony would like you to return the product. My guess is most will now just put out for sale since their compeitor is going to be doing the same. What will be funny is if all the online retailers follow it......by the time they get their censored version it will be too late.
what id like to know is how would you take a song out of game that was already packaged and ready to be sold? do they gotta open every freakin game take out the disc and do what ever to it, what ever they have to do i know its gonna be pain in the arse and wallet for sonyjohnnyblazed88
Destroy the disc and make new ones is what I am guessing or maybe add an update to it?
As soon as Sony announced the recall my local store took the advertisements down so I doubt they will be selling it today I haven't checked yet though.
Unfortunately I dont think my store got them yet (I live in the UK)...
So they cant sell them early even if they wanted too...

They are nowhere near 60 bucks. That's retail price, it doesn't cost that to make and package them. They will lose money, but not 60 bucks a pop and if the game sells well they will recoop the loss.
Luckily I preordered my copy from bestbuy.com and they had shipped it out last friday just in time for me to get it today. Thank goodness for poor communication between sony and bestbuy.com lol.
I bought my copy at Wal Mart last night at midnight. They might start be catching on throughout the country though to stop selling them. Still might have some luck at certain places.
Good Luck.
