Hey guys, saw this article, and so i wanted to get some discussion going. It seems as if sony listing job openings for a PSP version of LBP, so my question is, is this considered mulitplat now? I mean its the same as when MS publishes a game on PC, no? Discuss....

lbppsprules.jpg picture by maddenglitchPSU

Back in April we heard rumors that the innovative PS3 title launching mid-October, LittleBigPlanet, would also become portable on the PSP. Today, it was discovered that SCEE has begun recruitment for the position of "PSP Game Engine Lead." The job is desribed as "responsibility for the design and implementation of key game components," and "the development of exciting new LittleBigPlanet projects." What does this mean? Possibly a connective integration of the PS3 and PSP, or a complete handheld version of LittleBigPlanet?

Source

[UPDATE!] LittleBigPlanet's boss, Mark Healy, revealed to Eurogamer.TV his vision for a PSP version of the quirky platformer, LittleBigPlanet. Healy told Eurogamer in an exclusive interview, "There's definitely scope for a PSP version, we've had discussions and talks, [but] nothing concrete at the moment." Now if that is exciting for you, I don't know what can. Healy also discussed that spin-off products could be produced externally of Media Molecule.

I can imagine it will be some kind of a spinoff, with a name like 'Little Big Planet: Portable'. I think it will include downgraded graphics and stuff, a different set of story levels and give people the ability to download levels from the PS3 and play them in the PSP version, or something along those lines.

In terms of exclusivity, handhelds and home systems (which includes the PC) tend to be set on different strata. So the exclusivity tag still stands. Besides which, it is still exclusive to Sony systems (stands to reason, being as it is a Sony-published game).

Ok, so how is Mass Effect a lost exclusive, when 1) its published by MS, and 2) there are many changes to the gameplay and inventory??

An exclusive is only on one system. If there are different versions between different systems (like GRAW) then each version is exclusive. If LBP went to the PSP, it would most likely be considered exclusive because the PS3 version would be much more advanced, similar to Spore on the PC/DS.

Yes LBP is still exclusive to PS3. The LBP on PSP will be exclusive to PSP because it will be a different game set in the LBP world.

If it goes to the PSP then I still consider it exclusive. I don't count hand helds and other platforms in the same war, they are in their own war.

Wow fanboy desperation setting in

1) The PSP LBP would not and could not be the same as the PS3 LBP. It would be like saying "God of war is not exclusive because it's on PSP".

2) The name would not be the same (LBP: Sacktopia for example :P)

PS3 will have another good game, get over it and enjoy some games *sigh*

Why don't we wait and see.

If it is the same game then it's not exclusive. But I also think that this will be another game in the same franchise, which means it's not the same game and thus not exclusive... lets wait and see though.

It would be as exclusive as GRAW is exclusive too the Xbox360.

Meaning fanboys would say its a multiplat but everyone with a little more sence in their minds would see its an exclusive.

And that's if LBP come to the PSP in the first place.

they said it couldn't be done "as it is", which is the rule of almost every game, unless you can find me two different consoles made by two different manufacturers which can run games with EXACTLY the same code.

PSP and PS3 are two different consoles. In fact, they are so different, one can fit in your pocket, while one sits on a shelf. One takes UMD's, while the other takes Blu Ray. One has controllers, the other has it built in. Just because they are both made by Sony doesn't mean they are the same thing.

How is a game going from 360 to PC not exclusive but from PS3 to PSP IS exclusive?

someone earlier said "psp is owned by sony", ok, PC/Windows is Microsoft. So, what say you now? More hypocrisy, what's new. If you're counting this as exclusive, 360 claims all 360/pc as true exclusives.

becaue most of the time PC/360 shared games are ports of the SAME games, but people doubt that the same version of LBP on the PS3 will come to the PSP.

I'm finding this logic shockingly absent from this thread.

The PC is not manufactured by Microsoft. No PC is manufactured by Microsoft. None of them. They're manufactured by Dell, or Acer, or whatever. Or, if you're like me: you've got a case made by so and so, a videocard made by nvidia or ATI, a CPU made by maybe Intel, RAM by Corsair, whatever.

No one of those companies owns anywhere close to the entirety of the components of my PC. Rather, they never did. At any point. They manufactured bits and pieces and I put it together. Does that mean it's my console?

That's the point that needs to be made. A PC is not a Microsoft platform. Windows is a Microsoft operating system. But even this operating system is a single component in a piece of machinery that is a practical hodgpodge of different pieces.

PSP-Sony

PS3-Sony

Are we done yet?

And, for the record: no, LBP is NOT coming to PSP. LBP's "motto" is "play, create, share." Echochrome, for example, came out on PS3 with a level creator, whereas on PSP it came with prebuilt levels. Now, given that the entire purpose behind LBP is "play, create, share," and given also that you couldn't do any of these things by the pathetic wi-fi hotspot compatibility that the PSP has in terms of online play, it's not even worth discussing....the possibility that it would arrive on PSP, that is.

Most 360/PC multis are THE SAME with very little difference. The real hypocrisy is lems telling herms not to jump to conclusion about Gears 2, and Fable 2 going multi to PC. Yet lems are calling LBP multi and a PSP version DOESN'T EVEN EXIST. LBP will always be a PS3 exclusive. Even if there was a psp version it wouldn't be a direct port of PS3's LBP. It'd probably be a party game or a side-scroller with no online creation and only online co-op. Yes LittleBigPlanet still is a PS3 exclusive.
