If they wanted to make it seem real, they could have easily edited in an official image. The quality of the trailer is the best we can go on, and it's really good. I'm calling real. Price point - $700
I think it is real. It most likely just a plain early teaser. They are probably just teasing the PS4, but it will release normally with the other consoles.

No one is releasing anything, lol..it's just a teaser and perhaps something we should expect when it does come around in about 2 years or so. relax.

I was thinking the same thing. Still, I think its a bad idea as it would only confuse the public. I agree... well, either that or it's just a dumb way of saying that 3D is so incredible that PS3 enters the "next-generation"(!!!!111).
Heh... If they were going to rebrand the PS3 + Move + 3D firmware, they could have called it "PS3D" instead of PS4. 3-Dimensional images, 3-Dimensional movement. Ahhh, gimmicky marketing techniques.

The PS2 was released before the end of the Playstation, the PS3 was released before the end of the PS2. Both of the previous were announced about 12-18 months before release. If Sony annouce a PS4 it is possible for release in November 2011, which would mean the PS3 has been in the market for 5 years. Which is about right for the cycle, bring the PS3 price down further, fueling the core gaming to buy the new one, and with no word about the Next MS platform or Nintendo one (other than the 3DS) they would considerable head start in the next generation. Can't wait for E3, if I tell my wife of the PS4 she will shake her head since we have only had a PS3 for 3 months :)

But by the time the PS3 was announced at E3 2005, the PS2 had spent 3 years at the $199 price point. Despite production cost reductions, many of which resulted in taking out key features from the original PS3, the PS3 Slim is still a $299 behemoth today; the most expensive entry-level console. It's also just barely profitable. Any further hardware price reductions would greatly diminish that profitability.
There's also the matter of Move. It's been years in the making, and is expected to be a centerpiece of this year's E3. Where's the incentive for PS3 owners to go out and buy the $100 Move addon if they know a better console is coming in 12-18 months?
Let's also not forget consumers reacted less-than-positively to the last $499/$599 behemoth they set out on the world. At first the PS3's biggest selling point was that it was the cheapest Blu-ray player out on the market. I remember those sad days quite well. A PS4 would not even have that going for it.

thats what im thinking, and that's what it looks like. they'll probably realease aHUGE update (improved online, avatars like 360,new layout, a bunch of new online features,services,ect) alone with 3d and move firmware making it ps4.. and it'll probably say ps4 when you cut it on and change the name of the system to ps4.

Ditto. They're just now breaking even off of each PS3 being sold, & has started to get back up on their feet. I'm sure that they don't want to take the risk of announcing the PS4 that early & wind up losing more billions once it's being put out.
LOL, its not PS4 actually, its a way of saying that ps3 is so far ahead of the competition that you might as well call it ps4, its ps3 + move + 3d which sort of equals ps4.
Im still looking forward to a lot of new games coming out, and the graphics are good enough for me as of right now and it seems like they keep on getting better or atleast adequate.
While Im sure Sony are working on the PS4 I don't think they will even unviel it this E3, I don't expect even MS to show a new console for a couple of years. Nintendo on the other hand are due a new console, whether I buy it or not remains to be seen but I would like to see them move on from the Wii now.
PS3 is just 2-3 years old and what the hell with this new 'console'? Sony usually took a decade in order to keep their console sales on every generations. After a long decades of console sales, they did stopped it. Like a PS2 was launched in 2000 and now they decided to reduce their old consoles sales and then replacing it with current new ones, PS3.
