1. Difficulty settings. Yeah, I know you can make the game more difficult by not getting heart containers. But what about for completionists who want everything the game offers AND want more difficulty?

2. Be able to put on different tunic/armor using a hotkey button. It is getting really old having to press start, go into a menu, enable different tunic, exit the start menu, then finally continue on with the game. This could easily be corrected with hotkeys.

3. Bring back magic spells. Ocarina of Time had some magic. Twilight Princess had none. Magic spells to enchant your sword, run faster, etc.

4. Bring back hover boots but make it more interesting. Have 3 different "levels" set for hover boots. When you first get hover boots, they won't allow you to hover very long. Then you have to find an item that allows hover for longer, allowing you to reach new areas. Then another item that allows hover for even longer.

5. Bring back bombchus. Bombchus would be different in that you can control every aspect of where the bomb travels. Allow the player to change to 1st person mode for this when needed. New, unique puzzles could be built around this.

6. Allow every cutscene to be skippable. If someone really liked Twilight Princess, and was on their 5th playthrough, then why should that person have to watch unskippable cutscenes again? Why isn't every cutscene skippable? A majority of cutscenes in TP are skippable, but every one should be skippable in the next Zelda game.

7. Voice acting for non-playable characters.

8. Orchestrated music.

Definitely needs to be more difficult, playing TP was redonkeylously easy, the hardest boss was Ganondorf and he was still pretty easy.

Numbers 7 and 8 should actually be at the TOP of the list.

Also, since many people already confuse the franchise as an RPG, why not implement the actual elements into the game? Create a levelling system, with upgradable numerical attributes (STR, HP, MP, INT, WIS, etc...) and abilities. Have the armor and weapons become level dependant, where Link has to be at certain levels to be able to equip them. The idea being to allow the player to tailor his gameplay by customizing Link, focusing the level upgrades to the attributes and abilities how he wants to.

None of those really change the core gameplay to make things new enough though. There are some good points in there though (bombchus are the best).

I was actually going to say something like no. But I read it and I agree I also liked Bombchu's because Bombchu Bowling was the best.

So... Zelda with Neverwinter Nights?

Why not? Why not tailor the play style based on where you place upgrades, on skills and abilities, personalizing the gameplay experience to your own tastes? :)

I'd rather change the Zelda formula a little bit than changing Link himself, but hey, both could work. I did love Neverwinter Nights. ;)

Also, future Zelda games should have ways to duck down (not just roll, crawl), have ways of targeting limbs in realtime (not like Fallout 3 where you have to pause the action), have a water magic spell that when used when an enemy is close to a wall, the magic slams the enemy against the wall and obliterates it. Have an oil magic. Use the oil to throw onto an enemy, then use fire arrows or your lantern to set the enemy on fire.

All the other ones are mostly pointless.

1. Difficulty settings.

I agree with this idea, sometimes when you play zelda its just way to easy.

2. Enabled Quick Select for Items

Agreed the systems in zelda really haven't changed much since snes days.

3. Bring back magic spells

I'm kinda neutral on that, they would have to have them tie into the game some how or not do them at all in my opinion.

4. Bring back hover boots but make it more interesting. Have 3 different "levels" set for hover boots. When you first get hover boots, they won't allow you to hover very long. Then you have to find an item that allows hover for longer, allowing you to reach new areas. Then another item that allows hover for even longer.

Same as above.

5. Bring back bombchus. Bombchus would be different in that you can control every aspect of where the bomb travels. Allow the player to change to 1st person mode for this when needed. New, unique puzzles could be built around this.

I actually think they should bring bombchus back in some form specially with the wii motion controls.

6. Allow every cutscene to be skippable.

Agreed.

7. Voice acting for non-playable characters.

Strongly disagree, thats one of the charms to games like zelda and banjo kazooie is the wierd voices.

8. Orchestrated music.

Agree nintendo are weak on making proper music in there games they need to be like most companies how a days and hire out a suite of musicians for a month or something to do there game scores because there good but still a joke right now.

AvIdGaMeR444

Thats my opinion.

I agree with some of your points, but you make going to the menu to select a tunic sound like it takes and hour. Just press start, select one, press start again. 15 seconds max.

i AGREE, on a side note, im SOOO glad you didn't say that link himself needs a voiceactor. All the real fans know that would be really weird at this point in the franchise.

lol @ Nintendo still using MIDI files for music.

It's not like there are any space limitations now.
