Legend of Zelda: THE best series of all time?

And no OOT is not my favourite :P

Almost all of the Zelda games are great. OOT recieved a 10 and other Zelda games have had high praise. My favourite being Link to the past.

So my question is: Is it the best series of all time? I know its opinionated and many of you will disagree with this.

Other notable series that i can say rivals Zelda is MGS, Resident Evil, God of war etc.

So what are your thoughts?

My favorite is LttP as well, but I don't see Zelda being THE best of all time.

Maybe years ago in my teens I might have believed that, but I've played too many games to say that now.:)

I have to agree, I have enjoyed every single zelda game thus far with the exception of the 2 that came out on the cdi console.

I know people are going to hate me, but I'll say no, but to be fair, I'm not huge on Zelda either.

I can't really say which series is the overall best but The Legend of Zelda is definitely top five for me along with Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid.

Na. It's not even in the same league as some other games in my opinion.

It can't be the best. It's good, don't get me wrong, but the entire series leaves itself to being too "predictable" for many people.

I believe Windwaker was the best, in my opinion.

It can definitely be considered. It's had consistently good games since the NES, including what is considered by many to be the best game of all time. It releases at least one often two console games per gen, along with consistently good handheld games. Mario and Final Fantasy are the only ones who can really compete with that pedigree.

I would say yes. Ironically, the only other series that rivals it is Mario's.

Zelda, without a doubt is in the top 5 series of all time. Its a very well recieved series and sells great.

Yep, WW and TP are within the top 30 highest ranking of all time actually accourding to gamerankings.

No. I own ALttP, OoT, MM, WW and TP and the only one I have enjoyed enough to play more than once (or even once in some cases, with MM and WW) was ALttP. It has been a very influential series, but no where near the best.

EDIT: I would probably give that spot to Metroid.

I might just agree with you. Based on the popularity of the series in Japan alone!

Havent played Metroid (lol) but i will get the metroid prime trilogy sooner or later and check the series out.

I think the best series of all time is Legacy of Kain (including the very first one: Omen of Blood: Legacy of Kain ofc).

Link to the past was really fun, OOT was awesome, MM was even better, WW was good and TP was ok imo

Metal Gear

Mario

Half-Life

Warcraft

Final Fantasy

and more.

It's definitely one of the best, I don't know about the best.

However, IMO it is the best as so much care and effort is put into every game, it leads to every game in the series being fantastic.

Yes. The Zelda series is the most consistently innovative, entertaining, and substantive franchise in gaming history.

Nope, Metroid wins for me by a country mile. There are a ton of series better than Zelda to me.

As far as action adventure games go it's, in my opinion, the best series ever made. Best series of all time... I don't know, but it's wayyy up there.

Actually it's my favorite. I don't own a Wii, but every, single, Zelda game has been a master piece for me.

I don't know.... The new total war was such a disappointment for me, while its still a good game the other total wars are the absolute best, in my opinion, for turned based games.

Final Fantasy is my vote.

I can't think of another series that has produced so many great titles over the years. So I say yes.

Not sure if the best, but deffinetly in the top 3.
