That's a common problem in my country. Console game never drop in price and expensive to import. it is 70-80US for console games and I can get game off steam for 50US and steam prices actually drop.
For instance look here..http://www.sheltechelectronics.com/
They having sale and it is still more expensive than a new game from steam.. 525 dollars normal price which is about 85US...this is one of the biggest retailer here, cheapest place I've seen is still 80US. It's really expensive to be a console gamer down here, much much more expensive than PC by far.
I'm loving this. Playing it on the 360 and the DS and the DS version is actually better! :ocharizard1605I might get the DS version.
I picked it up on X-box 360 yesterday. Very fun game and certainly the best Harry Potter game out there. It actually captures the feel of Harry Potter, EA Bright Light should really take note of that.

Whats better about the DS version?
I ask coz my girlfriend wants to get it on the Wii, but i'm telling her to get the DS version for $20 cheaper coz the content will largely be the same
What are the differences between the 360 and DS versions?
Well, I found the controls to be tighter, the level design to be better, the pick up and play style more suited to my needs, and for it to be overall just more fun. And the content seems to vary sometimes, but that's with the 360 version. I dunno how it'll stack against the Wii version.Whats better about the DS version?

Game looks icky.
Not interested.

I think it looks pretty cool. Granted, I've never actually played any of the lego series of games. I watched one of the recent Harry Potter movies, and realized I hadn't even read some of the later books in that series, so I read book 4 and 5 over the passed two weeks or so, and I'll get 6 sometime soon. Makes me interested in playing a game based on the franchise and watching the previews it looks pretty cool imo.
This is a good thread to post a little pro/con mini-review in.
I had to have this game because I'm a Harry Potter fan (but not a big enough fan to buy the non-LEGO HP games lol) and I have to say that it is pretty awesome. Anybody who is even a casual fan of the series will love this game (hardcore fans will absolutely adore it), Anybody who is a LEGO game fan will also adore it. I'd even recommend it to those who are not all that into either franchise, but in that case, I'd recommend a rental (just so that you don't spend 50 bucks on something that is unproven to you; this is the kind of game that one buys if they like the rental version because it's so jam-packed with content).
OK. So what's so great about this game.
Pros:
Now though this game has enough good points to recommend, I feel I do have to mention the negatives as some of them are pretty problematic.
Cons:
Overall, a delightful game with an superb design. I would really appreciate it if more "adult" games that have deeper and more satisfying core mechanics than LEGO Harry Potter would take pointers from its overall design. It's also worth mentioning that the game is one of the very best games for kids on the market. I give it a well-deserved8.5. I might have given it a 9.0 if it was more challenging, the controls were tightened a bit and it had WAY less bugs and screen tearing.

Can you elaborate more on what makes the controls and level design better?
I'm just curious because I was actually contemplating getting the DS version but went with PS3 because I suspected that it was possible that the DS version might have less content and might be a bit watered down.
I got the Wii version and I'm addicted.OreoMilkshakeI was about to get that, but I ditched the idea after the crash/burn experience I've had with previous Harry Potter games on the Wii :(
GreySeal9, how long is the game? I might rent it with Singularity.

I'm not finished, but going through 4 years makes the core game seem somewhat sizable and if you go off the beaten path often enough, I'd say you could get about 30+ hours out of it. It's not exactly a long game though. I'd say medium length. It's hard to gauge how many hours it is since I'm not finished playing.
GreySeal, I can only compare to the 360 version I'm afraid, although I'm very sure it's the same game on the HD consoles. Anyway, The levels are like labyrinths, just complex enough to actually warrant some work, but not nearly enough for you to be permanently stuck (I think that was because of the game's target audience). They almost have a Metroid-esque feel to them. Don't misinterpret me here. All I mean is that you can always go back and find something new, always somethings hidden for you to check out. I found the 360 version to be severely lacking in imaginiation and creativity, and I found the levels to be a bit too linear for my liking, Then again, I like the fact that you can quit literally get in or out of the game at a second's notice, and that the levels have been designed keeping this in mind. Hopefully that helps. :)charizard1605
I imagine the 360 version is identical to the PS3 version. I think the PS3 version is plenty imaginative and creative, but what you've said definitely tempts me to try out the DS version.
Are we seriously bragging that a game we will never play is cheaper on our platform, which happens to be significantly more expensive to build in the first place?HahadoukenWhy will we never play LEGO Harry Potter? :o

While I don't think the TC's pumping up of the PC was necessary, I think you'd be surprised at how many people are interested in this game.
I got it for the X360 and love it. I'm a Harry Potter nut so I'm glad to finally play a game that does the franchise justice.

Oh, I forgot. System Wars is where the mature gamers go to discuss mature games for mature gamers such as themselves.
Oh yeah, I forgot the mention that this game has a phenomenal trophy set. Some games have crummy trophies, but this game really does trophies right. There good mix of collection task and creative and offbeat kind of tasks. For those who are into racking up trophies and achievements (I'm not one of those people, but I know some people really enjoy it), this game will scratch that itch quite nicely. And it is one of those games that would be fun to platinum.

I'll be looking into it, I've always enjoyed the Lego games, they're chuck-full of content

Yeah, and LEGO Harry Potter takes the idea of having massive amounts of content and runs with it. I think people will be surprised at how much content this one has, even in comparison to other LEGO games.
