Xboxlive gold is cheap as hell. In europe, just log on to ebay and buy it for 42 euro (12 month xbox live gold). Thats like what... 3,50 euro a month? Only haters whine about the 3,50 a month. They whine all day and even say that PSN is superior.... just LOL

I got Live on Jan 12th for free one month and I got Gold six days before it expired because it's so damn amazing to play. I'm on a tight budget really but it's so much fun I couldn't give something that good up after trying it out for a month. I now see why so many people Love Live it's addictive and amazing and at times can be better then campaign play. I mean there are bad and good times like anything but overall it's amazing.
Well I've got a silver account. So far I've been relying on freebies you get from games to play online but I hope to be getting Gold soon when I have more games I wanna play online (right now I only want to play GEOW :|)
Yes, I do have it, though I wouldn't class myself as a lemming. It's a great service, far superior to anything it's competitors have come up with and very affordable.
