Nobody over at EA, Activision, Sony, or Microsoft gives a flying shit about what you have to say on Twitter. This is beyond pathetic.
DRM is bullshit but using Twitter hashtags to pretend you're deeply concerned is stupid.
Given the online nature of many modern games, they're not going to work so well when the plug is pulled on the servers anyway, DRM or no. As for the legal obligation, the lack of one hasn't stopped people from using Steam, despite the mere hearsay that Valve will unlock everything you paid for. Finally, I really can't speak for those without solid connections. If a storm manages to knock a city the size of mine offline, then I have more pressing concerns (like how to do my job). But honestly, I've had no problems that I can recall with DRM. In my experience, the games still just work.lowe0
Well, the MP games obviously won't work, but the industry is still dominated by the SP titles. I'm almost exclusively an SP gamer, and I'm never out of things to play. Server shutdown would kill all of those games for no good reason.
As for Steam, it's different than a console network. Consoles are built with eventual obsolence in mind and all the support is eventually dropped, while Steam can work on any PC hardware, only thing that could kill it is Valve going out of business, but since they have a very strong foothold on the PC platform, I don't see that happening in the forseable future.
Lastly, under current management with Gabe Newell, I do believe Valve would remove the Steamworks DRM from games I paid for in case they went under. I saw a statement on Wiki somewhere where he says they already tested the deactivation tools, and how they'd work with no problems, as long as you have a backup of the game, or a retail copy.
I'm not begging like a hermit. ShoulderOfOrionIT seems you consolites are the beggers in this scenario. PC gamers have had DRM for decades .... its called CD Keys. get use to it you developer rip offers.
