Let me explain something about the Wii (especially for the blind fanboy)

I'm sure many, many people are sick and tired of reading about Wii bashing threads, so i am going to tell you something about the Wii and it's purpose in the gaming industry.

Let's start off with the most bashed thing about the Wii, the graphical capabilities. Yeah the Wii has Xbox graphics, yes better hardware will make some games do unbelieveable things, good examples like, Oblivion, Mass Effect, MGS4, Crysis, games that will never work on the Wii. But remember, the Wii might have loss something but it gained something back, the motion sensing controls. It is clear that Resident Evil 4 is better on the Wii, it is clear that WarioWare could only work best on the Wii. The Wii is unique, Nintendo doesn't want to go in the same direction it did last time, because...well Nintendo would be just screwed again, Nintendo needed something diffrent to succeed.

It is true that the Wii gets many lazy ports, but why the hell would you want ports on the Wii? It just ain't a good idea other than for some quick cash, for the exception of a few games of course. Just don't expect much from ports, because you need to build specifically around the Wii to get the best out of it.

Onto online, okay i agree with many that the Wii...the Wii's online won't be anything great, it is very featureless and phone numbers aren't cool. But the Nintendo doesn't need to rely nearly as much as Sony and Microsoft do with online, anyways, if your an online kind of guy you probebly own another online system also anyways.

Alright now onto software. This years E3 may have been a bit of a dissapointment to Nintendo fans, Nintendo kind of walked onto the other side of the park to talk with the soccer mom. But Nintendo doesn't care, Nintendo is catering to the casual audience which i don't at all see as a bad thing like some people are claiming. Nintendo are swimming in their pile of money right now. But it's not like the core games are gone, Nintendo is still pumping out Metroid, Zelda, Mario, Paper Mario, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, those games are still there. It is true that there isn't a whole lot of third party support, you ain't going to get Assassins Creed, Bioshock, Metal Gear, Stranglehold ect on the Wii, Wii exclusive owners are definitely missing out on a whole lot. But remember your still getting great games on the Wii, Nintendo ain't asking you for $600 they are asking for $250, go do the Wii60 or PSWii thing.

So a good summary is, Nintendo is doing something diffrent, they need to do something diffrent, they aren't asking you to kill a cat to buy a PS3 or X360 or go and kill a horse for a gaming PC, it's a cheap, great secondary console for the hardcore, whos thumbs hurt and want to start hurting their arms and a exellent choice for the casual gamer who have moved on from their PS2.

I respect Nintendo a lot for brining casual gamers into the market, but the way i see it everyday i see the wii becoming more of a fad everytime.Solid_Max13

how do you define fad? the wii will be the lead console before the end of the year. and it's always sold well. if anything the ps3 is the fad since it's sales are way down since launch (when it was the fad).

Nintendo's online doesn't necessarily suck... they just have a different viewpoint on it. They use the Wii's online capabilities more for new Channels than games, but we're still getting online games too which is good.

Anyway, I just now realized that you can now buy a Wii and a 360 for the exact same price as a PS3. :shock:

I prefer RE4 on the Cube with its original gameplay, the Wiimote is overrated and I'm tired of people lording it over high tech systems, with the likes of Mass Effect and Bioshock just because of a fancy controller.

I've loved every console they've made but this thing is terrible, thats my point of view and I'm tired of these excuses people keep making for it. They have a just cause but whats it got to do with me? The fruits of their vison won't blossom for another generation or two. Let Joe Casual and his mom enjoy it, let people enjoy it as a fresh change of pace just stop shoving this thing in my face like its gods gift to the industry. I'd rather keep playing any of last-gens offerings.

Thats my point of view I know other gamers and fanboys will think differently.

A fad is something that explodes in popularity in a short amount of time and goes out of favor in a couple of years. There is no way to know right now if the Wii is a fad or not.

I'm sorry but the Wii has better than Xbox graphics. The only advantage is the Xbox has a larger harddrive and more advanced shaders. One game on the Wii that couldn't be done on the Xbox is SMG.

Yeah, geta Wii and a PS3 not a 360 and Wii.....I mean, if you got the 360 combo you'd actually have a bunch of AAA titles to play for a few hundred bucks less....never should someone do such a thing!

Of course that's your opinion about the Wii. And I think differently from that. Simply because I have a Wii and enjoy the games that it has to offer so far. And you don't enjoy the games, and thats fine. The fanboys that are like "ur wrongz" and LOLOLOL N00B", no one should listen to them anyways :P

its one thing to say its not as strong as the ps3/360. but we all know its stronger than the ps2. i mean, the ps2 wasnt even has powerful as the gamecube.

so fads now last years? is the ps2 a fad then? it exploded in popularity and brought in a lot more ppl to gaming too.

It just that my honest opinions lead to me vs. every sheep(which is the 84% population)in SW and I can't type up a respone that fast.:P Not to mention logic that is disaproved by a mod usually gets you suspended, or banned.

I don't really want to debate if it has better or not or equal graphics to the Xbox, it's kind of hard to tell since the best looking Xbox game in my opinion is Riddick, a much more realistic artstyle compared to SMG a very cartoonish artstyle, i haven't seen a realistic looking game on the Wii that looks better than Riddick.

If their doing something different then where are the different games? Not zelda, mario or metroid prime, or regular ports with nintendo characters, i also dont want mini games, I want to see new IPs where are they?Puppa_Shogun

^ as much as a like mario games i agree with you here. nintendo needs to keep making new franchises. i mean, pikmin did pretty well last gen.the_wet_mop

Nintendo is working on new IPs. What makes you think they're not?

I pretty much agree with the original poster, and I can count on my favorite franchises still being around on the Wii.
