The 360 completely and utterly RIDICULOUSLY out classes PS3 in Game now and in the future and Xbox Live arcade online content everything. Yes 360 is a piece of **** in terms of hardware reliability AKA just like the PS2 did disk read error:shock: but a big but it is getting corrected as we speak.

But 2 out of the 3 and the most important 2 GAMES and ONLINE CONTENT the 360 lays a Hulk Hogan boot and then follows with a Hogan leg drop on the PS3.

Anyone that would even honestly believe other wise has baby batter Spackled all over their fanboy goggles.

A situation that can only make me rejoice, as a satisfied user of both systems, since close competition makes for a better market for ALL gamers, and as long as both PS3 and 360 are strong enough, most third party developers will prefer them (since you can develop more or less the same game on both consoles) over the Wii (wich needs separate work).

Didn't the PS2 have shovelware? The most popular console will have shovelware no matter what. Should gaming be restricted to the hardcore gamers? I think not since not everyone is hardcore. I, myself, consider myself casual since I don't buy all of the hotest titles that are out there since I don't play to stickly pawn others in an online death battle were I win while taking little or no damage. I was being sarcastic with the latter part of my sentence just to let others know. I just play for fun and not to "own" my opponents in some death battle.

Actually i even advised a couple of american friends (one in LA and one in Boston) to buy one in january and they had absolutely no problem. Maybe there's a shortage in Alaska? :D

What's for sure is that there's absolutely no shortage in Europe, where shops burst with unsold 360s. The PS3 took 4 months less to sell 10 millions units, despite the delay in european release, and it's pretty much a fact that the PS3 will sooner or later overtake the 360 in worldwide sales. In any case Microsoft should already be satisfied ending this generation in third position but having still eat up most of the disadvantage the original xbox had against the PS2.

The wii (wich i'll buy at the end of the month due to the release of one game i HAVE to own) has only one big problem. Third party developers have a really hard time selling their games on it.

That's mostly because of the hammering nintendo ad campaign that basically "sold" the wii to the masses as a console targeted above and belove the usual target of videogames.

It's quite shameful that abnsolute masterpieces like No More Heroes are destine to sell in low numbers despite the enormous installed base they could count on.

PS3 on the other hand had PILES of PS3 on retail floors. And you could not even sell it on Ebay on day 1 for even retail in most cases.

Even if they might have shortages in some parts of the US (definately not all round) you can be sure there's none in Europe, and Europe is by far the most promising market for gaming nowadays (more people, more people with money, more new and unexplored markets like the CSI). The PS3's dominance in Europe is going to decide who (between the PS3 and the 360) will come up on top worldwide.

And please, let's be fair. Let's not come up with myths of the 360 being held back. The PS3 has been held back MUCH more by having been the first 6 months without an entire market (europe). That's what one calls holding back.

The PS3 sells faster worldwde, that's all there's to it.

Say 360 was released 6 months before the PS3 it makes no difference. The PS3 has still done better during it's first 6 months. It sold more in 07 worldwide than the 360 either way.

What normally makes me smile about this "MS wipes the floor with sony!" or "Sony eats MS alive" kind of topic is that people don't realize that Sony and MS need each other now.

As much as seeing one of the two HD consoles fail would make many fanboys of the competitor happy, it'd be a disaster for their own console as well. In an universe in wich multi-platform games are the norm, combined sales of PS3 and Xbox 360 are what keep most third party developers away from trying their luck on the Wii, because in the end it's still more convenient for them to program a game on the 360 and port it to the PS3 or the other way around, as opposed to develop it for the Wii (wich requires a definately separate process) and then have to place a gamble on the wii enormlus installed base and scattered target.

You wanna see Final Fantasy XIV and Gears of War III (just making examples of course) gimped by the graphics of the wii? I Don't, so better hope that BOTH the 360 and PS3 fare well during the whole generation.

Even if it's difficult to program on the Wii, it can be done (even if it's done horribly) and WILL IMPROVE OVER TIME given the chance. It can take up to a year or more to make a "good" game for a console and that's why we see so few 1st party games from Nintendo.

I don't know what 1st party games are made for MS and Sony; not like I care, but that's beside the point. The point is, it takes time to make a game with a new control scheme (IE the Wii) that one on a standard controller (IE 360 and PS3).

"gamers" in the true meaning of the term are a minority in the wii's installed base, and 3rd party software houses are, for now, well aware of that.

But for sure if one of the HD consoles were to go under, the enormous installed base of the wii would become more and more tempting even for software houses that normally program on both PS3 and 360

Hmm, I don't seem to see the vast number of 1st party Nintendo games since I don't seem to keep track of them, but I don't see many 1st party games (or any made by the company of each console) on any of the others. Please, do correct me if I'm wrong.

I've bought some 3rd party games for the Wii that got horrible reviews and I've enjoyed every minute of them. We all have different tastes and there are some genres that others are not fans of. I'm not a huge fan of RPGs and there are only a scant few I've played and enjoyed since I'm not one to buy a second console when one is enough for me. Sure, I have enough for the other consoles, but I'm not interested in them.

But for sure if one of the HD consoles were to go under, the enormous installed base of the wii would become more and more tempting even for software houses that normally program on both PS3 and 360

I've never really thought of that, but then again, I don't like to argue with people. I just like to post what I think is right and try to back it up with well typed posts for each rebuttal I get.

Hmm, I don't seem to see the vast number of 1st party Nintendo games since I don't seem to keep track of them, but I don't see many 1st party games (or any made by the company of each console) on any of the others. Please, do correct me if I'm wrong.Action_Player

Nintendo has released around 30 games on the wii so far, wich is pretty much a whole lot from a single company. The other problem is that, besides a few exceptions, most of them are the only ones that sell well. Between the 19 titles that on the wii sold more than 1 millions copies worldwide, 14 are Nintendo, 1 is Sega with nintendo characters (and as such royalties to Nintendo), and 1 is going to be a big mishap (guitar hero 3) because the company is being forced to offer refunds. This leaves us with a whole 4 games that sold well on the Wii and in wich Nintendo is uninvolved (and two of them were franchises that are quite bond to the nintendo brand, Rayman and RE:4). Can't blame 3rd party developers for not wanting to butt in too much.

NOPE nice try. 360 first year had HUGE constraints the first 6 months so bad that you could still sell or buy a 360 on Ebay for well over retail months after launch.

PS3 on the other hand had PILES of PS3 on retail floors. And you could not even sell it on Ebay on day 1 for even retail in most cases.

So this is a very contrued myth
