I think the hardest thing to do is part with games and consoles, especially with all the fuss I read in news comments and forums every single time digital copies are mentioned. What gamer really doesn't collect games? I'm thinking there are hardly any of us who don't collect at least a little bit.

It would be bittersweet for me. I wouldn't have any physical crap taking up valuable shelf space, but I don't consider a hard drive to be as permanent as read only disks.

Though I'm not against digital downloads, I do get physical copies any chance I can. I mostly use Steam for good deals, I can't really get behind the licensing not owning part of DD, and I do love the smell of a fresh game with a manual inside for me to read.

The hardest thing for a real gamer to do is to get up from a comfortable couch or chair and start flinging his arms or moving his body to play a game.

I'll agree that's second followed by actually being good at it a third.

True at least with DD, it does make it very easy to always keep the game when moving to different platforms (at least on the PC). Not sure how that will work with the next Xbox as I am not sure if they are tracking the games to be redownloaded or even compatible with the new systems. However each time I get a new PC, I can just redownload if I don't feel like dumping files. It's nice to have a library of online games and relatively painfree automatic updating. Plus I am not against being "green" and it's just a more eco-friendly way moving forward in these days.

haha. I do make it a point to discuss that I am a gamer with anyone I am with. So far, no problems. I even had one camp out with me for the xbox 360 launch in 2005. I even wrote half my masters papers on gaming and neurology and even the positive social aspects of gaming so I do get defensive if a girl is anti-gamer.

Why is that hard? You can make it easy by just quitting something you're not enjoying.

I collect physical and digital copies. The hardest thing is finding the time to play all of them and getting everything I want out of each game. There's too much. I'm drowning in a sea of games.

As a collector I have to agree with you. Don't get me wrong, DD is awesome and definitely convenient, but the sense of ownership and satisfaction one gets from having a bookcase full of physical copies just isn't there.

Hmmm... I could tie that for first. Too many games I actually own and haven't played a single second of.

I think the hardest thing for a gamer to do is decide between saving his father or his mother if they are both hanging from a cliff and he only has time to safe one.

To have an opinion and then accept that their opinion is wrong.

Portal 2 is, imo, the best game of 2011. Would people say otherwise? Of course. Would I listen and change my opinion? Hell no.

Upgrading. 1K for a new PC or $300 for a PS3 was a really tough decision. But in the end it was just easier to buy a whole new computer because I couldn't setup a PS3 with my monitor smoothly.

With very, very few exceptions, I do not collect games. I play then, then when I am finished, I trade them in for another game to play instead.

Games (with some exceptions due to rarity) depreciate in value extremely quickly, and so I would rather turn them over for something else I have yet to play, than keep loads of plastic cases and discs lying around my house doing nothing. I tend not to ever go back to games I have finished, so collections are worth nothing to me.

That being said, it is quite nice to have a HDD full of digital games ready to go at the press of a button. Even more so when your optical drive is playing up as mine is :D

It's not hard for me. I've owned a 360, Wii, DS, PSP, PS3, 3DS this gen + about 200 games and all I've got to show for it is a PS3 and 3DS with Mario Land, Pokemon SS and a PS3 with Socom 4, MGS4, MGS HD, Fallout 3, TES 4 and 5 and Battlefield 3. I sell everything.

I think the hardest thing for the average gamer is to admit when they're wrong, or to admit that they suck at a video game, or to admit that when they lost online, it was because they got outplayed. Whenever most gamers lose in games, it always just so happens to be because of the game, because something is overpowered, because of the map layout, because of team balancing, because of basically anything other than the fact that they got outplayed.

In the real world, when it comes to competition, like sports for example, you have to look the other person in the eye, and if you lose, you just accept defeat, no excuses. It seems like lots of gamers don't know what it's like to compete in real life, and they always come up with silly excuses.
