Lets face it, as of right now all systems are failing us equally...

I judge systems on there killer apps. Here are a list of the killer apps for each system.

Wii - Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3

360 - Gears of War, Bioshock

PS3 - ???????? (Maybe Warhawk and resistence... maybe....)

So there you have it... every killer app for every current gen system... and you barely need 2 hands to count them on...

Honestly. This entire generation has been a big let down. Hopefully this holiday season rectifys it.

I hope games like Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed ect... are killer Apps... but most likely they will be new HEavnly Swords and Lairs... lots of hype that doesnt deliver.

My 360 isn't failing me. I'm pretty happy with owning noobs in Madden 08, Blue Dragon and Rainbow Six Vegas.

Then next month, theres Eternal Sonata and Halo 3.

Honestly, you'll like a system more if you didn't put your panties in a bunch over killer apps.

As far as I'm concerned MP3 and Bioshock are two of the greatest games I've ever played.

Killer Apps only come around every few years. BioShock is absolutely freaking off the wall crazy, but it is not something that every 360 owner should buy. Same with TP and MP3. They're phenominal, but are not absolutely necesary to the console''s lifeblood.

Wanting killer apps is not a bad thing. Lazy developers are why we get games that COULD have been great, like The Darkness, but instead are just "ok"

I 'm sorry but i simply have too many great games on pc to play. I havent been able to get through half of them :|

If you only play killer apps, and don't play other games, except to kill time, stop gaming.

Next gen so far has been the same ol' stuff. Better graphics, but thats it. Games like Oblivion do well, but aside from that i dont know any games with outstanding gameplay.

Seriously. Besides a killer app moves alot of systems, or is of an extremely high grade. Just because a game got an 8.5 or alot of people you know bought it, doesn't make it a killer app.

I beg to differ. I own about 20 Xbox 360 games, almost all of which I would buy again in a heartbeat. Wii Sports is still to this day the only Wii game I wiould consider buying, but it already comes with the system (no, Metroid is not worth $50 and neither is Zelda in my opinion.. maybe $30 due to the horrible music & low polygon, low texture, jaggy graphics, and backtracking galore). As for the PS3.. Well nothing out for it has warrented a purchase of the console, especially after the last several megaflops its had.MrEpyx

I totally agree. Right now I would say none of the systems are worth owning, but last gen took a while to get going too, but when they did we got some great games. Its coming............

Ill give you this much... Paper Mario is suppose to be pretty decent for a paper mario game...

But as much as RE3Wii rocks... its much to old to be considered a killer Wii app. It had 2 releases previously, same wiht Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Although both were and still are killer apps in there own right.

Oblivion was a let down from Morrowind to me... so I dont look highly on that.. and Vegas is great online... but a killer app has to be great single player first and foremost... great multiplaye just adds to the package

Agreed. BioShock is far from a "killer app." It's not going to be a 10-million-seller that overtakes its genre.

The only potential killer apps that I can see on the horizon are SMG, SSB: B, Halo 3, and GTA IV.

Yeah it's pretty lame. Even more lame if you have a PC and a GC because Bioshock and Twilight Princess become almost useless. (I don't think GeoW multiplat after all that time is real ownage, though). And seriously Warhawk is AWESOME. It's my favorite Battlefield-like online game.

But even that isn't enough. This gen needs more masterpieces/sure classics. The only one so far is Bioshock, but I think the situation will be alot better in 2008

GRAW, GRAW 2, Command and Conquer 3, Dead Rising, Forza 2, The Darkness, Project Slypheed, COD 2, Viva Pinata, Fight Night Round 3, Battlestations Midway, Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth, Call of Juarez. Already had the multiplats before they came out on my PS3. These games, IMO were definitely worth my $60 each, although I paid probably $30-$40 for most of my library. So, no the 360 had definitely NOT failed me. My PS3 for games only has Motorstorm and Ninja Gaiden Sigma, I rented Resistance and thought that it sucked. Sorry, but my opinions count more to me than yours ever will.

Well most of the time,big sellers are casual games like Halo, NFLor Burnout. A game doesn't need to sell well to be a masterpiece

When I find out you were the same level as me I was excited, and you posted a thread saying the Wii controls is gimmicky which I agree and I hope for you to read my blog about the Wii you'll enjoy it. But for this thread Iagreetoacertaindegree. It is peoples choiceto buy the systems they have and they bought it just to play games for that certain system. But I'll stick with having a PS2 they still have great games for it and games coming out for it. As for next system I'll wait and see what games are made.

Hitman lacks depth and polish.

Dead Risings text is unreadable for somone without an SDTV and its pretty short, though I will give it props for being sorta unique is not a bit repetative.

Call of Duty games havnt been killer since Call of Duty 1, now they are all rehashs.

Lost Planet was not even average... it was just plain bad

DOA 4 is a fighter... and a good one... but its just DOA3 with better graphics

The Darkness could have been great.. but it lacked the polish of a game with a bigger budget.

Saints Row is rehashed GTA with better graphics

Then you list like 5 sports games... sports games are never killer apps. They all do the same thing. They are all the same game. The difference between Baseball on the NES and MLB 2210 will still just be graphics and data on teams and rosters. The gameplay has been the same for years, it just looks better because of new technology.

As for racing... Racing can be amazing... im just not into it.

I dont agree. I have a X360 and i'm busy playing the following games:

Gears, GRAW2, Forza2, Dirt, BioShock, Madden (now and then), R6, Arcade games (mainly Bomberman, Paperboy, Lumis Live). Not to mention the tons of demos.
