Stockholm syndrome, or capturebonding, is a psychological phenomenon in which hostages express empathy and sympathy and have positive feelings toward their captors, sometimes to the point of defending them. These feelings are generally considered irrational in light of the danger or risk endured by the victims, who essentially mistake a lack of abuse from their captors for an act of kindness.[1][2] TheFBI's Hostage Barricade Database System shows that roughly 27% of victims show evidence of Stockholm syndrome.[3]

Stockholm syndrome can be seen as a form of traumatic bonding, which does not necessarily require a hostage scenario, but which describes strong emotional ties that develop between two persons where one person intermittently harasses, beats, threatens, abuses, or intimidates the other.[4] One commonly used hypothesis to explain the effect of Stockholm syndrome is based on Freudian theory. It suggests that the bonding is the individuals response to trauma in becoming a victim. Identifying with the aggressor is one way that the ego defends itself. When a victim believes the same values as the aggressor, they cease to be a threat.[5]

What? :p Titanfall really didn't need to use Games for Windows to use Azure (or else they require that in Azure licence?)

Has been confirmed that devs can turn off the light if they do not use it for game purposes.

You are cluttering the forum with threads similiar to ones that already exist.

I couldnt care any less about what you think of either the X1 or the PS4, i can decide for myself which one i want.

Why are lemming threads always so terrible? They are always full of hyperbole and the posters are always so laughably biased that they simply ignore any post that doesn't agree with them or simply repeat their same shit again. The quality of this board is really suffering. They need to make the level cap for threads even higher. Can someone please point me to a decently constructed lemming thread, because I have a lot of trouble finding one.

I agree with clone, it is up to Baurus to explain why he isn't an idiot. I don't expect him to though. I expect another post with large sized font, lots of capital letters with a periodic "LOL COWS" thrown in, and then some self assurance that he has owned the cows.

The Kinect on the Xbox One is leagues apart from that on the 360. Kinect was fun on the 360, but mostly for casual gaming and exercise. This time the Kinect gets serious.

True. Except for the flops. It needed more flops. And shaders, yeah more shaders. Other than that yeah. Sony got lucky 2 generations in a row. Xbox almost killed the playstation with the 360 and than RROD happened. And this next generation they had the whole fumbling of the innovative digital future that has in essence given Sony a great head start.

yep i see alot of innovations possible, it can teach sign language and will read your lips if you allow it, its that sensative, its futurisitc is revolutionary and its at the disposal of devs going into 2020.   We will get our AAAE, and it might be made by Kojima.

Thing is though, how accurate will this technology be? Let's assume that I am playing a tactical shooter and will be giving voice commands to my squad (many games already allow you to do this without kinect). If the program is unable to accurately process what I just said it will give a wrong command which can potentially lead to the death of my entire squad since things like this are critical in a tactical shooter. However, if I simply press a button, the chance of the program receiving my intended action is 100%. This is why voice commands aren't that great. If they fail, it will really piss the player off and damage the experience. I can't see this new Kinect rasing the bar and making the technology foolproof.

That's the point, this Kinect will raise the bar to that level. Kinect bashers are basing their views on the old Kinect. This one will give you that reliability that it will just work.

Sorry but there is no way I can take their word for it. I can't even take any stage demonstrations they do at face value because they are known to be faked and manually controlled in the background. I will judge the Kinect when it releases, but I see no reason to expect anything special. Many developers have tried and failed to make core games for the Kinect. It has been nothing but a disaster for anyone but a casual who enjoys shallow minigames.

If everyone was paid on here Sony would soon go out of business the amount of anti Microsoft's posting that goes on. The Xbox One has more depth and potential than the PS4 its that simple.

Fair enough at least you will give it a chance. If you have seen demonstrations and thought they too good to be real and they must be manually controller then you will like what you see when it comes out.

I will judge the Kinect when it releases, but I see no reason to expect anything special. Many developers have tried and failed to make core games for the Kinect. It has been nothing but a disaster for anyone but a casual who enjoys shallow minigames.

it can detect you in pitch dark, i kinda can take its word for it if you ask me.   I watched several demos, and i can see how Kinect will be used.    Especially in a game like Battlefield 4 where you have your sound blaring, you can speak at decent level and it will drough out the noise and key on you.        Its going to be benefit for the XBO, Kinect 2.0 is a new ballgame...

Many developers have tried and failed to make core games for the Kinect. did you see the demostration of the kid wearing a hoodie jacket with strings flopping around in the pitch dark?

[QUOTE="1PMrFister"]Because voice and gesture controls via Kinect has led to such amazing, immersive games on the 360...tdkmillsy
The Kinect on the Xbox One is leagues apart from that on the 360. Kinect was fun on the 360, but mostly for casual gaming and exercise. This time the Kinect gets serious.

ok then. HOW will it make games more fun for me to play? I don't want voice controls or dancing around in front of my tv when playing a videogame. What does it add? How is it not going to be limited to the same on-rails experience we've come to expect when integrating motion controls?

Do you know what I want to see? A demonstration of a good game that utilizes kinect for something that isn't gimmicky and meaningless.
