Yeah, I may say that the Xbox 360 is the worst console in terms of both hardware and software. Yeah, I may say that the PS3 and Wii are about on par with each other in terms of delivering the best possible console experiences. That said, I always intentionally leave the PC out of it, because I figured it was a general understanding that PC blows consoles out of the water.
SW seems more like Cow and Lemming Wars, because you never see Sheep or Hermits. I think the reason for this is because all Nintendo games are definitive on PC in 1080p, and PC is just known as the definitive platform so Hermits don't feel the need to rub it in.
You honestly don't know what PC gaming is like unless you've experienced gaming on a Master PC. You would be blown away at how much better multi-platform games are on PC. They're practically not even the same games.
Here are some reasons why the PC is the definitive gaming platform.
- Customization. You can customize your rig, and upgrade when and where you want.
- Freedom. There's no big company dictating your platform's future. You can play what you want, how you want, when you want. It's not like Xbox 360 where Microsoft suddenly decides to turn your platform into the casual Kinect box and you have no say in the matter.
- Blizzard. The best developer on planet earth. Starcrat, Warcraft, Diablo, some of the best franchises on planet earth. No one makes better games than Blizzard, and no one takes advantage of a PC like Blizzard either. RTS, MMO and Dungeon Crawler Action RPG's are all far and away definitive on PC platforms, and Blizzard does them best. Those genres just have so many different button commands, and mouse precision is key, they cannot be done correctly on a gaming controller.
- Keyboard and Mouse. KB/M is the definitive way to play games, and you even have the luxury of using a controller if you so desire.
- Online. When you play online on consoles, it's just a joke. There's no communication whatsoever. You're literally reliant on having people use headsets, which is practically non-existent. At least on PC, you can rest assured that everyone is using a KB/M, so you can type messages to your teammates and communicate regardless of headsets.
- Mods. You wouldn't believe how much mods enhance games. Just take a look at Skyrim fully modded, and tell me the console version doesn't look boring as hell.
- Cutting edge graphics. With PC, you always have access to the cutting edge in graphics. You don't have to wait for console manufacturers to decide when you get to experience them.
- Multi-plat domination. My God, have you played Mass Effect 3, Batman Arkham City, Crysis 2, Battlefield 3, or any other multi-platform games on a master PC? It doesn't even look like the console versions, it's literally 100 times better. In many cases, there is Direct X 11 implementation, allowing for things like tessellation and PhysX. Add all that on top of the 60 frames per second, insanely high resolutions, V-sync to remove all screen tearing, antistropic filtering, anti-aliasing to the point you can't even FIND a jaggy, and it's seriously incredible. The console versions look like complete messes compared to the PC versions.
- Peripherals. Peripherals and gimmicks are all done best on PC. PC has the highest amount of them, and the best implementation of them. It's funny how 360 revolves around a gimmick, and it can't even hold a candle to any of the gimmicks done on PC.
- Ultimate Multi-Media Device. The PC does it all. Consoles are slowly but surely trying to become multi-media devices like the PC, but their operating systems will never have the complexity to allow for such a thing.
- Starcraft II. The best, most competitive online game with the highest skill ceiling is exclusive to the PC.
People always say that they'd rather sit on the couch and play rather than a desk, but that's debunked considering you can hook a PC up to a big screen TV and play using a controller.
People also say computers are too complex, but they're living in the past. Computers and PC gaming are both much easier and intuitive now than they used to be, not that they were ever that difficult to begin with.
So yeah, PS3 and Wii may be the best CONSOLES, and 360 may be the worst overall platform on the market, but PC takes the cake.
