The PC will always be on the cutting edge for graphics.

Thats nice, but not very representative of graphics for any platform. Heres a picture of an nVidia tech demo:
Except this was the tech demo for the GeForce 3....released sometime in 2001. We've just started to get this kind of detail in games 6 years later. By the time we'll see those graphics in the first post no one will have rememberd that tech demo since it'll be years, and years away.

Exactly, how many years behind?
I'm not sure why this is new news or ownage of any type. Clearly personal computers will have the edge on consoles. I question why people make these threads. People play consoles for all sorts of reasons. Besides, I can't say I am too excited about a tech demo.
Do you want to play a tech demo?

Yeah, I guess innovation and the availability of cutting edge technology is boring. They should just stop trying all together and stick with what they have. No sense giving developers new and better tools for games...

You've got me scratching my head. I don't know how your post has anything to do with mine. Of course they should continue to innovate and create more lifelike graphics. But why you choose to state the obvious (when it's so obviously stated repeatedly anyways) is a mystery to me.

Uh, that's not what he said. Xbox 360 and PS3 had tech demo's that were amazing and no game has achieved any of those tech demo results yet. I seriously doubt you will find a game that looks like that in the next year or 4 on PC. And by that time the new consoles start arriving anyway.
And all he's saying that it's not totally about graphics. X360 and PS3 have great graphics for this time. Most people buy it for the games though, that are not available on PC.
exactly. I bet they wouldn't be able to reproduce that same face 10x over againSo theyre able to model a realistic human face... and ONLY a realistic human face.... without eyes...
Awesome, lets see that put to use in a gameone day then I'll care. Im guessing 2020.

And of course, the eyes are closed, because it is completely impossible to set realistic eyes in motion. The technology just doesn't exist to capture all the nuances in a human eye.Overthrow
While not in motion in this particular instance. It is absolutely possible now to get extremely realistic eyes...

How about we see the PC do that in an actual game and still look as good. Just because it can do a tech demo of a head doesnt mean you will be seeing that quality in graphics on your PC games for years to come. (and no dont say Crysis, they have good looking faces but not that good.)

Yeah I don't get these threads. PC's have been killing consoles in graphics for like...since the dinosaurs lol
Is this supposed to be a shock or some kind of big deal? Sometimes I feel people keep bringing this up as to bash consoles because they are pissed for how good they sell and how good their sales are cause people say PC is dying or whatever which I doubt will ever happen really but to combat people who say it is they say....PC kills console graphics.
Well we all know this...only fanboys think Console graphics match or surpass PC graphics.
I don't play for graphics though so all this is pointless. It's nice but I dont buy games for that.
Do people still remember E3 '05 when Sony first showed the PS3?
They did that real-time demo with a model of Alfred Molina. That looked pretty photo-realistic and keep in mind that it's 2 years old by now.

Kinda how Xbox gamers tout XBL for its downloads, features, and achievements, but they are only talking about it because they feel they have to justify the money that they spend on it yearly despite other systems providing equivalent if not superior service for free, but they have to pretend like its good?
See, i can make baseless claims to. How about lemmings talk about XBL because its a genuinely good service and PC gamers talk about the graphics because they have genuinely good graphics. Stop kiddin yourself if you think everything tlaked about has some kind of underhanded motive to anything someone praises.
PC has good tech demos, like Crysis, still has not one worthy gamegreg_splicer
Are you calling Crysis a tech demo? Hmm... This game has more to it than any other FPS prior to it. Explain to me how it is only a tech demo. Just cause it has pretty graphics doesn't mean it is a tech demo. A tech demo is just that...not a game. For instance a tech demo of Crysis would be that helicopter map that they always show off. That is not the game and not even in the game AFAIK. Instead of bashing PC games and going on and on about how PC games are "only" about the graphics people should actually play them.
Edit: Besides...aren't you one of the worst graphics whores on this forum? You wouldn't be bashing Crysis if you had a PC that could run the game maxed out like some of us do.

Don't try to change the subject. You pretty much said a console couldn't do those kinds of graphics period.

If i had that pc, probably would enjoy my tech demo indeed, but get a new pc for a tech demo is not my style, maybe when the first RPG with Crysis graphics arrives (read: 2010) i would get such a pc, would be DX12 at that time though

I would call Halo 3 a tech demo, but its graphics are obviously too crap to even begin to qualify.
