To me motion sensing isn't really impressive right now. The Wii needs a 1:1 ratio control.

If Wii-style, motion sensing is more important. If SIXAXIS-style, online is more important.

im a sheep and i say online gaming is more important.

motion sensing is hard to separate from the games as a feature on its own....

its like saying whats more important online or the A button? online adds to most games... games with tacked on motion sensing arent necessarily better than without motion sensing.

motion sensing allows for new types of games to be created and a whole new layer of immersion and unique interface to play them.

Why can't we have both? PS3 has a from of motion sensing and online, and the Wii has better motion sensing with online on the way. I don't see why we have to choose.

This thread kinda pigeon holes the Wii.

Now here's the real question that is fair across the board: Which is more important? Online or graphics? Then again, this is not my thred. *shrug*

If motion sensing wasn't a feature for any consoles this generation, people would still love their consoles and enjoy many games they play without losing any sleep whatsoever. If online wasn't a feature for consoles this generation, people would flip out. They aren't even in the same league.

online is definately not important when it comes to EPIC games
when it comes to multi games, its mostly vital for if your friends suck and you need a better challenge
pc owners have been living in the virtual world so long now though
motion sensing still hasn't fully been taken advantage of... hardly any single player games use actual gestures
its like trying to judge the ps3's usage of bluray, it just isn't being taken advantage of yet

Motion sensing or tilt? Most people confuse the two....

Nevermind I made up my mind for the fact that sometime you get jerks
that never shut up or they disconnect, etc.

I'll go with motion sensing

the thing is that none of them really matter that much... especially in system wars....it comes down to the games..

why do sheep buy the wii? zelda
why do lemmings buy the 360? halo

What a bizare topic. Why not both? The only system that does not have both is the 360, but that's made up for by it's superior online network.

Well, thing is, online games have showed us more quality. While motion sensing has shown quality too, it does not come close to online for now.

Online wins, but in the future motion sensing might be better.

Online is for the short-term. IMO, motion-sensing will have a greater overall benefit for gaming than online ever will.

Your opinion is idiotic. Have you been living in a hole for the past two decades? Haven't you seen the tremendous trend in the IT industry to focus on connectivity between people? Haven't you seen the rise of the cell phone, cars that keep you constantly connected with people and services, MP3 players that emit constant wireless networks around them? And seeing all this, how have you managed to remain blissfully oblivious to the painfully obvious underlying trend in contemporary technological development... Connectivity between people - a clear sign that people REALLY value what being online represents. Motion sensing is a sideshow. No-one has given a rat's ass about it through all of the Superscopes and VR helmets, and if you think the controller on the Wii is going to start some sort of revolution, and that the popularity of the Wii is due solely to its controller and not its price point and Nintendo brand backing, well... I'm sure you're very happy with your Wii, but if you want to take this drop of evidence as some sort of contrary point to the virtual tidal wave of evidence suggesting the importance of connectivity between people (IE - online) in contemporary/modern technology, you just aren't that smart.

First, "Motion Sensing." Second, you should have put innovation. So, you want a possibly crappy, laggy online feature, rather than a revoultion? Interesting.

Why can't you have both? Last I checked this didn't have any effect on online... I'd love to have both, so I say both. I'm not a big online gamer anyways, and playing Gears online gets boring, but even then... Motion Sensing isn't bad either... and I certainly wouldn't mind both.

do you really believe that? :| look at the impact that ONLINE has already had! think Starcraft. Think World of Warcraft. WC3. Think Unreal Tournament '99. Think Counterstrike. Think Halo 2. Gears of War. Resistance. Spore and all these new, upcoming games. Online has changed gaming in ways I can barely comprehend. It's brought gamers together across the planet and across platforms. Motion sensing will change the way we game in some ways...but online has changed GAMING.

Hmm I'll have to go agains't the majority and say motion sensing. If online had only started now in gaming and had only been sucessfull untill now, I would have said online. But the consoles are preatty much playing the catch up game with something that has been done on the PC for quite some time now and it will probably not get any better for some time in the future. So its definitely important to improve that in the console market, but its still only that.

The Wii may be using an old concept as well, but none of it really took of in the same way it could now. If the Wii becomes a sucess I could see Motion Sensing becoming the next big thing. And I can also see the very big possibilities this approach could give, not just to the console division but heck maybe even computer games in the future. Â
