let's talk about Frostpunk

hey system-war , thought to get back with a new post about the flavor of the week "Frostpunk" ... what do you think of this game ? is it as good as people say , I watched some of its gameplay , I like what I see however It looks really time-consuming and stressful for me but you if you're into strategy-survival games , you may like it :) ..

Took me some times and now I think I could beat the game. Good game, good challenge.

It looks good, but got GoW and sone other stuff to finish before Pillars 2 launches so have to wait on this

Looks very good. Like the tone, the art style, and the "damned either way" decisions. Heard lots of good stuff about it.

That said, also heard it's super short. Like, 5-6 hours short. No sandbox mode either.

The devs are promising content expansions soon, so I'll wait and see what they'll come up with first.

People lost interest when they announced that it's coming to consoles. Can't brag about exclusivity any longer.

I am into those kinds of games but so called AAA companies are not very innovative in this space so I likely will just stick with my current list which is far more then I can handle in a lifetime anyway

@tryit: what do you mean? This is a relatively small Polish studio. Game looks super distinctive to me

I love it so far. I keep learning from my failures.

I'm thinking about getting Frostpunk, but haven't decided yet due to me reading the review from PC Gamer site.

You can thank Sony and the devs for that. Sony put up the money to put commercials all over the damn place for that game, and naturally, people are easily fooled into thinking something is awesome and amazing if they keep hearing it.

my theory is, if you hear a lot of buz its because the company in question wants to spend more money on advertising then they do development which is a hint its not that good.

on NMS while everyone was loosing their minds over being able to land on planets I was already doing that with Space Engineers, Empyrion - Galactic Survival, Planet Nomads and even Elite Dangerous. only in most of those I could build anything I wanted as well

Its good, I not into those games since C&C tiberan sun, its challenging that's for sure, meeting peoples demands while trying to get the city up and running.

A while ago I had a minor argument with some hermit where he said it probably wouldnt come to consoles because of its RTS mechanics...

Like I said before, almost all high rated PC "exclusives" come to consoles sooner or later so their brag is only temporary

@Vatusus: no, not really. I think people aren't talking about it here because it's an indie rts game and this place has like 5 of us with any interest in such a product.

Pc gamers love it to death - go look at steam or gog. Just like was discussed in the other thread on (non)hyping pc games, for whatever reason we just don't care to do it (except for the Star Citizen brigade in the early days)

All that being said, I'm genuinely surprised this is coming to console - very few rts games have managed to 1) have good controls and 2) sell well on consoles. Will be interesting to see if this gets a good port and good consumer support.

Its a very hard game, a mixture of city building and survival that works really well. The survival element is similar in some ways to This War of Mine except much less repetitive. I haven't managed to survive for more than 30 days yet though, and im thinking about lowering the difficulty setting :(

How dare you hype this, first it didn't have a major league commercial or 10 articles on a front page of GS.

@xantufrog: The game has sold 250k copies in less than 3 days, seems to be getting pretty reception.

I'm surprised, apparently it was announced for consoles in early April but that news went over my head. The struggle for PC exclusives continues...
