Let's think up some non cliche RPG plotlines!!

Be creative patrons of SW! Try to think of an original story for an RPG, instead of the typical "farmboy / orphan / kid with amnesia saves the world from vague threat that only he can fight with some manner of mystical items.

Rules:

1. Some people (like myself) aren't very good writers, so please don't flame them if you think their idea stinks. Use constructive critisicm!!

2. Is someone posts an idea that's already been done, they probably didn't know that it had already been done, so be polight and just tell them, don't be mean!!

Here's my idea (it's a bit short, so there's a lot of room to build on it):

Most RPG's are about trying to stop some evil force from taking over / destroying the world, right?

So what if they made an RPG where you play as the bad guy, and your goal is to take over the world. It could be about your family being killed when you are a boy by the emporor, so you set out when you're older to usurp the throne and take over the world.

Thats just an example I thought up quickly, I'm sure you guys can think of more creative ideas...

Has a Criminal Themed RPG been made yet? Sort of like GTA: The RPG...

City of Villains doesn't count.....you don't really do anything criminal....

You are on your way to the grocery store to pick up a carton of milk, when all of a sudden, the mob abducts you.  They put you in the back of their van and they gunwipe you.

When you wake up, you're in the cellar of a mob hideout tied to a chair.

You must break free, find out information about the mob, and then take them down.  Only, later on do you realize that the mob is gigantic and that there's plenty of work to be done.

Most WRPG's... KotOR, KotORII:TSL, Mass Effect, Jade Empire, Fable, Diablo... there, some original, non-cliched RPG storylines...foxhound_fox

How about a storyline involving crack dealers? You have to patrol your 'hood, beating up any rival gangbanger who comes your way. Levelling up gains you respect which means you can buy more crack and sell it on for profit. You could make it for the Wii and have to cut up the crack rocks with the Wiimote (tekkenlaw suggested that one). The whole game builds up towards one final showdown with a well known rapper of your choice, with the victor becoming the new man the kids look up to. You can also get a job spitting in burgers at McDonalds and pimping hoez. The Wiimote in the latter case can be used as a beatin' rod if any cracker comes your way and the nunchuck for slappin'.

I've always had this GTA-style RPG in my head. Like you choose to become part of a gang, and you try and get rid of the other gangs and become the top. But the thing is, like all RPG's, it's gonna be kinda weird. Like instead of the class, ninja/samurai, you'd have the class Urban Ninja. Or instead of Archer, there'd be Hitman. Or to replace the mage/alchemist class, you'd have the Graffiti Artist class, who can spray "spells".

And as for weapons, there'd be guns, graffiti cans, baseball bats, etc. And there would be stats like Robbery Skill, Stealth (for robbing), Graffiti skill, Gun mastery, Alcohol Tolerence, etc.

You star as Tyler (either male or female you choose) space traveller who crash lands on planet ruled by apes. He must fight his way out escaping from a zoo he is put in he soon discovers the only humans are non-intelligent and incapaple of speech. He must find a way off the planet.

Thats just the first ten minutes of the game. Then the hamsters come and destroy the planet. They find you and are intrigued. They capture you and take you to their world. Soon you are sent on missions by your new hamster overlords to take out other planets including a seal planet, a bug planet and a planet inhabited by medieviel cows.

Eventually you must take out the infernal guinea pig planet. After that the hamsters return you to earth and drop you off. After waving good-bye they leave. You then discover that earth has been over run by apes. The game closes with your character screaming "You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"

You're Pitiful: The RPG

You're the pathetic guy described in the Weird Al Yankovic song, a Slurpee machine operator who is called fartypants by everyone and eats chips of his chest while he plays Halo 2.  Meanwhile, the fairy of coolness, J.C. (which stands for Jerrald Chauncey), is fed up with your pitifulness.  He comes to you in a dream and tells you to stop being so pitiful.  He says that you have 2 months to become cool (meaning, people have to stop calling you fartypants), or you will spontaneously combust.  You have to hang up the Star Trek uniform, keep your clothes on while playing Halo 2, learn to dance, and get a new job before that happens.  But, the city is a dangerous place, where you can get killed in a heartbeat by everything from an out of control car to a chemistry experiment gone wrong.  And you need money to become cool.  There are also many Action-RPG style battles.  Those can be fought against anything from normal enemies like gangs to wacky things like Godzilla style monsters and mutated cars and poodles.  The weapons you use in the battles can be guns, molotov cocktails baseball bats, fire hydrants, bears... anything you want. 

Coolness is waiting.  The road to it is hard.  What the heck are you waiting for?

Earthbound's plot is pretty original.

How about a RPG with noir/detective story mixed with the supernatural? I'd dig something like that.

I would love a survival horror RPG. I think Parasite Eve came pretty close but I would absolutely love a scary RPG.DaysAirlines
