lol, whatever happened with "Tech 5 is too complicated to mod"...either way, its kinda cool that the tools are built right into the game like that.

When was it ever said that tech5 was too complicated? Carmack said a while ago that they hired people to develop tools to make the engine easy to for new people to learn.Inconsistancy

When have consoles ever supported mods (barring UT3, which is a terrible game regardless)? Here, I was thinking the console versions would support it, too. :P
Sounds cool, anyway!

If you seriously get into modding, it can be just as or more fun than the actual game sometimes. It's really incredible.I really need money to upgrade my computer to make it able to run most games I want. I love my ps3. The Pc has modding tho.

Console versions better have the editor.foxhound_foxHighly doubt it. Is probably going to mark a step towards ID licensing the engine and toolset, and having available as a stand alone, like Epic have done with its UDK and Crytek plan to do in the near future.
Theyd be stupid not to. Almost all iD softwares games are moddable and most of the fanbase for those games comes from having countless comunity mods such as multiplayer maps, skins, player models, gametypes ect available for free.
I slightly interested in this game now, Iv been looking for something else to do some modding on so this is very good news.

I was referring to the "level editor" portion. Forge is a level editor of sorts. Time Splitters supported it last gen, too. It's not popular on consoles, though, as we all know.

Those arent level editors, what ID means by a level editor and what you think they mean by a level editor is very different.

Yeah, that's pretty obvious, lol.
Initially, I interpreted the possibility of the console versions having an 'editor' (however technical we want to get) similar to Halo's Forge mode. Would be pretty cool, but it's not a bad thing at all.
What I think is good, is the fact that they're including these tools into the PC version. Bravo.

Didn't Bathesda say that iD Tech 5 is for them to use only?

It is when the Unreal Engine exists.I thought about that, too. How it could limit adoption / royalties. But, I guess they feel publishing those games will balance out the loss business. I ain't mad at 'em.
Overall, iD Tech 5 is a marvelous engine. I'd like to see more games made with it.
'This actually ships with the game, anybody that brings down the pc version console and types "id studio"all of this dev envronment pops up on it...'

In this quote he's referring to the dev tools, the tools were confirmed by Carmack a good while ago... :D

No idea, but I'm sure Bethesda would love a piece of the lucrative engine licensing pie. Also, I thought the whole porting of it of the iPhone was to show off it's capabilities in licensing cross platform. At QuakeCon 2010, id CEO Todd Hollenshead announced that while id Tech 5 will be licensed to third parties, games using the engine will be required to be published by id Software's sister company Bethesda SoftworkskillzonexboxAah gotcha. Interesting, it's a unique way to try and build up a larger marketshare, Bethesda really do have their sights on Ubisoft, EA and Activision in the long run.

Lol, I dont know why people actually ever hope for this like it ever happens.
Far Cry 2 had the map creator, which was good probably the best for consoles.[QUOTE="cobrax55"][QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Console versions better have the editor.SaltyMeatballs

And Halo has forge so it's *possible*, but it seems most devs don't think console players want or could even use it. Full mod tools are completely different to Halo's forge or map editors. For example, just look at whats available for Half-Life 2 or Starcraft 2.[QUOTE="cobrax55"][QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Console versions better have the editor.SaltyMeatballs
Lol, I dont know why people actually ever hope for this like it ever happens.
Far Cry 2 had the map creator, which was good probably the best for consoles.Though if it's anything like I think it is, the level editor is going to be much more complex and fully featured. From the looks of it, levels are build from custom geometries. The map editor will probably be more like Source's Hammer Editor where you need to forge your own geometries, not just raise and lower terrain and populate it with prebuilt objects.
