Lots of news are coming in from Level5 escpially regarding their very upcoming exclusive for the PS3 Ni No Kuni ( 2013 ).

  • Level 5 talks about the sequel to the PS3 game and more games from studio ghibli's saying the company would love to do a sequel to Ni No Kuni and bring more JRPGs in the future, all may depend on how well the international version of Ni No Kuni is going to be recieved overseas

In an interview with Famitsu.com at Namco Bandaia's recent Gamers Day event, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino said that, with regards to a Ni no Kuni sequel, he'd like to continue with the series if they see strong results from the overseas version.

andriasang

  • Level 5 and Namco Bandai confirm the DS version of Ni No Kuni ( which is diffrent from the PS3 version ) will not be localized due to difficulties they foresaw selling the game with its thick Magic Master book
  • Sony today confirms they will work closely with Namco Bandai to make the localization goes as well as possible and also confirms the international version of Ni No Kuni will have exclusive content for the Western market as well as include both English and Japanese Audio
  • Level 5 explain the reason why Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is delayed till next year:

The reason for the long wait, explained Hino, is that they're taking time to ensure a proper translation. The game also has a lot of text, with over one million words.

andriasang

  • Level5 CEO seemed very pleased to know the game is heading to the overseas market and appears to be confident in the game's chances for success, noting past success stories from Level-5 like Dark Cloud, White Knight and others.
  • When asked about the identity of the game, the CEO answers with big hopes that the overseas market will enjoy it:

"Ni no Kuni will be a representative JRPG, and for the quality it provides,"

Well, I guess we're not getting a Ni no Kuni sequel then :>

The extra enhancements sound nice, kinda justifies the overly long wait.

I wonder how big is the Magic Master book that was available for the DS version. It is unfortunate because of it that the DS version will not be localized, but the PS3 version (which will be localized) has a digital version of that book.

It's funny how they confirmed a second time that the DS version wasn't getting localized. I wonder why they would do that.

It's not as if they never confirmed it previously or anything.

I dont "hype".. i only post news about new game releases ( which usually end up being JRPGs ) heck i havent even talked about a JRPG for over a year now. there is a diffrence between hyping a game and posting news about a game.

but yes the game looks really nice

Slashkice

Confidence doesn't translate into sales though. Not saying it can't sell well, it's just...unlikely. JRPGs face an uphill battle in the west already, and the anime-styled aesthetic on top of it will likely turn people away. The fact it's Ghibli should improve its chances, but eh. What Ni no Kuni really needs is good marketing, but this is Namco Bandai; ie the game is screwed.

Maybe if they set their expectations accordingly it'll turn out fine, but sounds like they're expecting a lot from the article.

Japanese developers and publishers as you mentioned really need to market their games, if they spend a little on marketing they will do even better, what i see is that most seem to focus on the word of mouth.

Here's hoping Sony help them market this game

heck i didnt know what mass effect was/were till i ended up seeing bunch of trailers on TV then it made me familier with the series as an example. marketing is key then again marketing costs money. i wish them luck.

I actually prefer the Studio Ghibli animation style than styles I am seeing in most current anime (which seems too garish and over-used in my opinion).

I dont recall seeing many game trailers for anything at all except Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Call of Duty, and Halo, Battlefield and Gears of War and 75% of those games are advertised for xbox...It is rare that there are game commercials, its actually kind of sad

kairikh

People in Japan have been playing it for quite awhile.

It's actually a bit strange they have to wait for the western market in order to decide if they will do a sequel or not. Now obviously the west is a major market, but with a JRPG I'm not sure if you can expect it to be their BIGGEST market. You'd think Japan sales could go longer way towards carrying a JRPG franchise rather than have to rely on U.S and E.U. sales.

You rarely see other games ads because the companies dont bother with spending to advertise their games.. games like CoD have massive advertisment budget then again because the company is very rich

If they bring over Danball Senki it will be the 3DS port. The PSP is dead in the west, the anime is coming over next year so it will be even worse by then, and the 3DS is selling well. Another good thing about them bringing it to the 3DS is that the anime will last a while (if it stays around), if they decide to bring W over the PSP will be in an even worse position by then. So that means they would have time to show all of the original and then port the sequel over to the 3DS (the new system).

From what I see most new Level 5 franchises will be on Nintendo systems, the 3DS seems safer right now.

The news about no DS localization for Ni No Kuni isn't news at all. It's been know for a couple years now. That's why I'm excited for the PS3 version!

[QUOTE="mario-galaxys"]I wonder how big is the Magic Master book that was available for the DS version. It is unfortunate because of it that the DS version will not be localized, but the PS3 version (which will be localized) has a digital version of that book.finalstar2007

Sounds like its a really big one.. im very interested to see how it looks

It's about 300 pages.

It's a few hundred pages and it's of course very high quality. I can understand why they wouldn't risk it having to print thousands of copies for a game that may sale like crap. A issue they don't have to worry about with the PS3 version.

Thanks for the info!

I fell in love with Ni no Kuni the first second that I saw it, so I'll be getting it day-1. I'm thinking that it'll do quite well sales-wise over here, so hopefully a sequel will end up happening.

The last couple of delays for Ni no Kuni really saddened me (I'm dying to play it), but I'm glad that they're taking their time with the localization.

No man, it might look kiddy but it deals with mature themes. Death and stuff.

Kids don't know about death, they couldn't play this game!

Cherokee_Jack

Kids die every day!

Yeah, but after that they're dead.

But what about waking up dead? So very confusing...

Meh Level-5. Their games look pretty but the gameplay is bad.

For this game the gameplay does nothing for me. However games like rouge galaxy and WKC were fun imo.
