As always sharing something new, the concept arts for Lightings home in Final Fantasy XIII is now all over the net, According to siliconera:"Her home was elevated over water and looking outside you could see a park. Polygon models for the park and plaza were made. Artwork was created for Lightning's living room and bedroom. You could practically walk through Lightning's house"

The main reason why this was cut was due to space issues ( more like thanks to xbox360 )

there is a chance this will return in FFXIII-2 next year

your thoguhts? did you like FFXIII?

Let the hate begin!

for some reason after one person mentioned iton the comments section, it does remind me of Tidus home in FFX

Im sure it was cut out for pacing reasons like much of the other content they stated, not exactly space or w/e. Looking through her house would add nothing to the game Im sure and disrupt the constant forward movement. Cool house thoygh I guess.

^This. They've said multiple times that it was cut for pacing issues. FFXIII doesn't come close to using all of the space available on the 360's 3 DVDs. it was not a space issue. Content is cut from games all the time.

I haven't played a bit of FFXIII, but after reading a lot of the reviews and complaining about the game, I noticed that the game sounds like a HD version of FF7. A major complaint I heard was that FFXIII is really linear for the first 10 hours or so...that's all fine and dandy but I just recently started playing FF7 and it took me about 5 or 6 hours just to get out of Midgar. Of course I could probably have sped up this process if I didn't spend some time talking to NPC's and whatnot, but it doesn't seem too far off from FFXIII. The next complaint I heard for FFXIII was that the battle essentially play themselves, and it's only later on once the game has introduced all the little aspects that it lets you free. Although not as bad, I noticed the same thing in FF7. If the enemy is not a boss, all you have to do is hold down the accept button and spend the next ~minute entertaining yourself with a book or something. Materia doesn't even get interesting until you're a fair ways into the game either. The final complaint was a convoluted-ish story requiring lots of background information....do I even need to explain this comparisons? :P Oh, also, the dialog. Just read some of the character conversations in FF7 and imagine that being spoken. yeah, horrible. Anyhow, those are just my two cents. Again, I haven't played FFXIII so I can't really argue against things I had no way of knowing about but from the reviews and rants I've read...sounds like the pacing of FF7 (think it's a fantastic game) in a new world.

Looks ugly. Looks like DVD space issues did us a favour after all! But no, it was not because of space issues.

It's definitely meant to feel like that, but it ends up being off because there's really not much outside of this game's "Midgar." Remember that big whole trip in FFXII where you travel to Arcadia to witness almost nothing happen? That's what the game feels like outside of Cocoon.

Nah i think it would have been a great part to have in the game, off topic but is that crappy duke nukmen game still coming? i thought it was cancelled..i bet GS will give it a score of 7 or higher even tho it has naked girls, some guy in the bathroom doing his busniess, more girls naked and probbaly more Mature stuff when their not even allowed for a small bit in a JRPG *cough neptune*

I don't know, it just seems like some place to walk through, it wouldn't have added anything towards the game.

And yea the game is coming, but GS will probably have someone who has never played the original Duke Nukem play it and lower the score due to a bad story.

Edit: Also, although the game will have naked girls, they won't look like 8 year olds a'la Neptune. :P

If your talking about NP2 i would agree as they do look young but not neptune and i think it was a stupid reason to get such low score for that not that i care about scores to begin with, the game wasnt good but i mean a 5 or 6 out of 10 not good, not a 3.. heres hoping someone harsh reviews duke game and gives it a 1/10 as yes it looks that bad in my eyes

Why would you want any game to score poorly? Just because it doesn't interest you doesn't mean it's bad. :?

It seems that they removed it because of pacing. I haven't beaten the game yet, but I don't see a part of the game where it would make sense (pacing wise) to go to Lightning's home. It really has nothing to due with the 360's disc space.

In a way it remeinds me of the ship used Star Ocean The Last Hope.(Hmm. pun intended?, intentional?).Most RPG'ers love detail. The more they get in a title the better it is for us.

thank god FFVersus13 is PS3 exclusive

but this feeling of content being removed or gimped etc, is something PC gamers feel all the time, so PS3 fans shouldnt cry too much about FF13

I wouldn't be saying that, who will you blame when you find out that Final Fantasy Versus 13 has stuff removed from the game. Games and movies have stuff removed before they come out.

Im sure it was cut out for pacing reasons like much of the other content they stated, not exactly space or w/e. Looking through her house would add nothing to the game Im sure and disrupt the constant forward movement. Cool house thoygh I guess.

Shirokishi_

The article SPECIFICALLY states that it WAS cut due to space issues. This is info directly from the art director of the game, printed in a magazine. It's NOT subjective info, it's fact. How can anyone read this and not understand that.

This also adds more evidence to this interview with the same guy http://gamersyndrome.com/2010/video-games/final-fantasy-xiii-plenty-of-deleted-content/

Here he states that tons of content was cut(enough for a whole game). Lightning's home is just a sample of all the cut content. Yes it's true that some content is cut from games and movies, but not even close to 50%! And Square has stated many times how expensive it is to make these HD environments. It makes NO SENSE that they would just throw all that stuff away unless they were forced to due to their contract with MS to keep both versions the same. The PS3 version had 12 gigs of free space while the 360 version had about 2 gigs total on all 3 discs.

I swear, 360 fans will go to the farthest reaches of space to try and defend it's limitations.

"And story progression concerns." If the content was really that important, it would have been in the final game. Either that, or Square cares more about saving money on pressing DVDs than actually making a good game. If so, that's pathetic.

I swear the extent that Ps3 fans will got to make up stuff to make the 360 look bad.
NO WHERE in the article does it say in the interview that he said Content was cut because of the 360 all such claims were said after the fact by the the article linker and people grasping for straws in other comment sections.
You haven't posted a single shred of proof ever in your claims it was the 360's fault yet people like me that have disabused you quite often have not only posted proof but pure logic that proves you wrong.

I won't go into any of that again because you won't ever learn.
*any one notice how towns and the like were never really shown before the 360 multiplatannouncement, so much for them being fully playable on the ps3 version, mind you a version that was sourced from a ps2 version that was then remade for the ps3 took 5 years of development time and was only in development on the 360 for under a years time...yet some how in all of that and in that short amount of time the very nature of the game, its story, its gameplay, its content, were all changed for the 360 Square enix must be gods of programming to do all that lol*

I think its rather bad that you brought it up again Finalstar but hey its obvious why you did *I never ever make fanboy threads, I never make hype threads, I never hype only ps3 exclusives *

I hope FF XIII-2 will be open world from the start and have an overworld WITH towns. I hate the linearity of Final Fantasy XIII.

The main reason why this was cut was due to space issues ( more like thanks to xbox360 )

finalstar2007

What a cheap low-blow to the XB360, I really hope you don't think that's true.

They already showed her house in one of the cutscenes. Still, it's neat I guess.

I don't think Shirokishi even has a 360. Even if he did I doubt he was defended it as you make it out to be.

And Lighting's house looks like a bowling pin lol.

he does, Another member in the thread does as well enough to post an interview that never even says it was cause of the 360.

"Further, the reasons for the removal of the content consists of "game volume", and a "sense of belonging" to the story."

Niether quotes that point that the 360 or its disc ?limitations? was directly at fault.

So I suggest you find a chill pill and swallow it.
