I absolutely loved The Evil Within 2. It was such a big improvement over the first one in every single way. Recently played Hellblade which also had a lot of psychological horror elements. Few weeks ago I was busy in my work and didn't have time to play games. As I was exploring Youtube, I kept coming across some fairly new horror title. It looked quite interesting and I kept its name in my mind for a while but now I've completely forgotten and the videos about it have also stopped appearing in my youtube dashboard.

I'd appreciate you guys to list your favorite horror games from this gen. I'd love to experience more horror goodness this weekend. Who knows, I might end up finding that game too. In any case, we'll all benefit from this thread one way or another by sharing our choices.

Blair witch

Xbox console exclusive and unless I have missed it still not reviewed on gamespot

8.8 ign and 70 on metacritic if you one of the 1 system,1 brain cell types who need to be told if a game is good or not.

Imo It’s good, but I preferred layers of fear

Darkwood.

It's not got AAA attention, and not a shitty game where unfunny youtubers overreact for money.

But it's good at what it does.

This is probably correct, since it's the, by far, awesome-est looking horror game this gen. But I'm too much of a pussy to play it.

Resident Evil 2 Remake has been my favourite so far this gen. Resident Evil 7 was quite good as well. I haven’t played The Evil Within 2 yet but I did really enjoy the first one and from everything that I’ve seen and read about the sequel leads me to believe that I’ll enjoy that one as well.

Alien Isolation, if you like Alien franchise. Also, Observer, from Blooper Team, like it best out of their games, wouldn't recommend Layers of Fear 2 or Blair Witch as I feel these released too close together and you can just tell they rushed both. The Outlast games I would recommend. Soma is good for its story. I enjoyed Until Dawn and have my eye out on that new game the team made.

Alien Isolation was brilliant. Sucks that there won't be a follow up.

Same thing can be said for SOMA. Both Alien and SOMA are my favourite Horror games this gen.

Outlast 1&2 are also worth playing.

If you like Soma I'd recomend Narcosis. It's a little janky but it has a great story and atmosphere

The Evil Within 2 and Resident Evil 7. Both good horror games. I have Resident Evil 2 Remake but I won't play it until October since it will be a perfect game to play during Halloween.

It's not nearly as good as Until Dawn.

You're better off waiting for a The Dark Pictures collection to be released for it to be worth it.

It's on origin's subscription service and i think on MS Game Pass as well. It's a really good game.

Blair Witch, despite low reviews, was actually pretty atmospheric, and it's also included on MS Game Pass for PC.

Alien Isolation was brilliant. Sucks that there won't be a follow up.

Pacing and difficulty were big issues with Isolation, but there was a lot of good stuff there too. They nailed the aesthetic in every way. Too bad the gameplay moved from scary to frustrating after getting killed by the alien for like the 20th time in the same spot.

RE2Make was great, of course.

I also just started Simulacrum Chapter 1 (free download) last night which is a indie/fan game designed as a spiritual successor/homage/blatant ripoff of the Silent Hill series, but since Konami isn't making SH games anymore I don't really mind (I actually just got done making a thread about it). It's "current gen" but it's also indie so it looks like a high res PS2 throwback.

@Cloud_imperium: I just completed A Plague Tale. Great game but I didn't consider it a horror game. I suppose it could feel like one during some segments. Interesting story. Enjoy!

The last Horror game i played was Evil Within, but only very briefly--meaning i could not figure out how to pass the Butcher. I dont remember if it was horror or not, it sorta felt like a stealth game. Horror is difficult to do right.

Clock Tower, thats a game i like.
