I don't pre-order PC games, because they never seem to be out of stock here, the gamespot I go to is pretty much all console people, so, getting a pc game on release date or a week after is never hard.
None, and I don't plan on having any. Preorders make very little sense, as most games never sell out, and for a vast majority of games, I will be using GameFly.SpruceCaboose
Games like Halo, GTA, Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo and Super Mario have all sold out at launch in previous years. Where have you been for the last 10+yrs? I suspect that MGS4 will sell out as well on day one. It's true that companies have got wind of this error is has been providing a larger amount of copies of popular titles. So usually if the game is sold out one week, you can usually get it the next. With GTA though it was tough for people who didn't pre-order.
As for my pre-orders I have the following games.
SSBB
GTA IV
WoW: Wraith of the Lich King
Starcraft 2
Ninja Gaiden 2
Hot Shots Golf 5
Spore
Final Fantasy XIII
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

I have never had a problem finding any of those game at at least one retailer in my area. Between Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Sears, GameStop....there is always one that has a copy, usually many copies, especially places like Target and WalMart that are not "game retailers" in the minds of most people
For example, the day Super Mario Galaxy came out, GameStop was all snide about how I should have pre-ordered it, so I went down to Target and grabbed a copy. I was in line at GS for Halo 3, sure it would be impossible to find, only to find out my friend walked into Best Buy the morning it came out and walked out with his copy, no problem.
The one type I would pre-order are games with peripherals, as thy tend to come in much smaller supply.

yeah thats true but there something to be found on a launch day or a midnight madness release. you usually dont find that type of stuff at walmart or target or such. these are things i truely appreciate at my local gamestop.....i love the midnight madness...these things make buying the game worth waiting for and that much more fun to anticipate...
None. Few preorders make sense, and when they do, I basically preorder a couple days in advance.
Preordering games at full cost with no extra benefits is not a very good idea, unless the limited edition is truly limited (instead of a "collector's").
The last game I preordered was AC, and before that, Halo. Both came with a free poster. Other than that, Gears of War and Forza 2, both of which had a $10 discount on the collector's when preordering.

Actually, none of those games sold out. Not even Halo.
