There is no cause for comparison.
PC modding is not a game. Mods are strictly about the construction phase. The implementation stage comes later.
In LBP, the creation stage and implementation stage are one and the same.
P.S. We've already had about three of these threads. Just stop it already.

You would think that some people could see the difference. I guess they can't :P
Thank you for clarifying it for them.
Garry's Mod.
You can do simply anything in it.
LBP is very nice, however Garry's mod is simply better as a creative game, and not having any constraints on what can be done.
If you have played Role Playing servers - that are entire cities with traffic and everything... you would agree.
Or played Colossus maps.
Indeed PC has the backing of the source SDK for mod creation and support. So a comparison is prety stacked against LBP.

Isn't that more of a logistical difference though? Sure, the streamlining of the process makes it easier to use, and more accessible, but it doesn't really change the final product.
They both boil down to the user created content that they produce, so I don't think it's unreasonable to compare them.
Gmod
seriously they are not even in the same league
better compare LBP to Halo3's Forge or something. that would be a more interesting discussion

Youve clearly never played Gmod then.
TC how can you compare a dev mod kit with a full game ? Obviously in terms of creating and stuff the mod kit will have alot more stuff. But LBP is still better because it offers you both a gameplay and a level creator.alesner87
So your saying that you don't have a clue what Gmod is?

The difference is since you can create anything in Garry's Mod it becomes overwhelming and you end up creating nothing at all since you basically need a bunch of creativity, foresight, understanding of the tools and basically a plan, to build something more sophisticated than a bathtub with wheels. At least that has been my experience.
And really they sort of differ gameplaywise. Garry's Mod is built on an FPS, LBP a sidescrolling platformer. I think that tends to influence what people create. I don't know if you could emulate LBP levels using Garry's Mod without actually modding things outside the reach of the mod. Perhaps you could, I don't know, but is anyone doing that?

Indeed LBPs editor means the first thing you think is platformers and the sidescrolling perspective means you can emulate other games in this persepctive. THe learning curve would also probably be pretty easy.
Though I do think that you could do more similar things in Gmod - from looking at youtube videos of things people have made, however ultimatley there will be things in LBP and GMod that wont work as well across games.
Never knew Garys mod was a game. kenshinhimura10Since when was a mod not a game?
Jesus the amount of people ignorant to what Garrys mod is is suprising.....it is a game and anybody that says otherwise doesn't even know anything about it.
I've asked this in a million threads about gmod vs LBP but nobody answers me cause they dont know anything about gmod....ok is if gmod is only a level editor, why am i sitting here playing zombie survival online, fort wars, darkrp, space build with tons of players online? please explain to me how that is not a game? Oh thats right you didnt know gmod had playable game modes in it....
Garry's Mod.
Go look at the Youtube videos.
I've seen Mario levels remade with Garry's Mod.
That can also be done in LBP though.
It is essentially the ultimate gaming creative tool outside an editor like Unreal Ed - that can be played realtime with friends.Jesus the amount of people ignorant to what Garrys mod is is suprising.....it is a game and anybody that says otherwise doesn't even know anything about it.

Its terribly underrated here.

GMod isn't something that's "played." That's the point.
I'm sure people can have fun in the process of development, but that doesn't mean it's a game.

I know people who play it, it does not sound very user friendly, but if I could run it I would play it.
