LBP looks great, but we haven't seen much of it, so it's best if we keep quite about this until we see more.

Well what more do you need to see. I think it's self explanatory right now. You create your own content and make these amazing levels (if you so choose to spend the time) that can have fantastic physics based puzzles. I really don't know what else there is to see. We've seen it, it looks to me like a dream title. It does need one thing though a content custom creator. So you can make you own 3d objects and place them around. Throw that in and I would honestly buy a PS3 for this game. This is the type of game I wait for, never mind the shooters and action games this is the way I love to game. The user being the creative mind behind it.

Have any lems played Mass effect?

No, but that does not stop them from hyping it.

When you see a game that has potential you just like it.

It doesn't seem like a game that would have much lasting appeal to me...

More of a rent it, have some fun with it, and then stop playing it. It looks ok in that respect though. System Seller? Far from it IMO.

This game looks interesting, but for $600 nothing alone could be a system seller. As for hyping games that have potential... I'd like to point out the disaster that was Red Steel.

They didn't show any amazing physics based puzzles in their gameplay videos. I think people are getting blinded by the graphics. Most of that gameplay was seen it done it did it a billion times in thousands of other games. It looks like most of the "puzzles" will be pushing crap into a pile and jumping over it. The jetpack sequence was visually impressive but just another "put a weight on the switch and run under what it opens".

I don't think it is the visuals that has everyone going gaga. It is the potential interactivity and customizablity of the game and the direction it represents for Sony. It also represents one of the first good things Sony has shown in a long while, so it brings out a lot of hope where none was before.

I'm not going to say that it is a system-seller at this point..it seems unlikely in fact right now. What the game is, is an excellent showpiece and tool for goodwill towards the console.

I Couldn't agree more, I believe that when the time comes LittleBigPlanet will sell more PS3s than games like MGS4 and FF13 (which i love) will.

It does have lots of potential, but nothing can be a system selle, when the system costs $600.

Ain't that the dam problem???  I saw the videos it all looks interesting - wish I had it .  But when I think of the price - I say HELLLLLL NOOoo. Not till the price drops and they score more exclusives.

Has potential, and I could honestly see myself getting lost in the level creation aspect of the game.  That said, it doesn't seem that there's a lot of meat to the game, just a lot of running around trying to solve environment based puzzles.  Though as someone else mentioned, the money required to experience the game is tad too high for my tastes.

I think it appeals more to the people who like to have creative outlets.  However, it isn't a system seller cause the system is too damn expensive.  If the PS3 was cheaper, yeah, I would honestly consider getting one if this game panned out to be worth its weight in hype.

its kinda funny. like they don't know the meaning of hyping and all the drawbacks that comes with the territory. you'd think they'd be scholars in this field by now.

yes but most lems dont make bold statements such as this game will have amazing gameplay, based upon opinion only.

As well LBP doesn't look very good to me, So I can play Animal crossing on the ps3? cause thats pretty much what it seems...

BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOTHING ELSE!!!  I swear it still doesn;t make sense - I think Sony plants people in the forums to talk smack and hype.  Its more than Fanboyism its nuts to think this stuff changes much.

$600 for that crap?  I will buy a PS3 just as soon as its worth the $600.  Which from the Fall Line Up is no time sson.

LONG LIVE THE PS2!!!!

I really like the idea of LittleBigPlanet but is it a "system seller?" I'm not sure it is, but we'll see. I like it much more than the general concept behind Home, though. I think Sony did a fairly decent job this GDC convincing people that the rumors of its death were greatly exaggerated.

It might not be a system seller to most people, but it definitely is to me. Although it doesn't feature flashy graphics or huge guns with explosive rounds, it looks like it could be incredibly addictive which is enough for me to warrant the purchase of a Playstation 3. Look at Garry's Mod: it basically just used Half-Life 2's props, but it came with a bevy of construction tools that gave you endless hours of fun, especially with other players in a server with mods like ECS (entity command suite) and prop protection (to keep the Mingebags from ruining your creations).

[QUOTE="flamingschmoes2"]If Sheep claim Wii sports is system seller, why can't LittleBigPlanet? At least with LBP it emphasizes online, personal creativity, and just plain nice presentation and fun. These are good things that attract casuals too. Wii sports may attract some, but it's also limited with no online play, and I dont know anyone who plays it for more than a few hours before it grows stale.

The problem is that while casuals may like LBP, I really don't think they will pay $600 for that experience. Sony's biggest problem is price, it doesn't matter how many good games are coming to the system, it will not sell through outside the hardcore base at the price PS3 is now.

I don't think LBP and Wii Sports really have the same appeal to an audience.

My wife plays and loves Wii Sports, I don't think she would even touch LBP. To me LBP is Sony's response to Smash Brothers.

LBP certainly has an unmistakable charm, no doubt...

But to spend upwards of $700 just to play it kinda seems...well, ridiculous.

I'll need some other compelling reasons to plunk down that kind of coin, I'm afraid.

[QUOTE="flamingschmoes2"]There is a $500 PS3 out there too. And from some Sony fans, that is actually the more desired package (the $600 adds a big HD that some may not necessarily need) If Xbox 360 did fine with $400, PS3 will do fine with $500 price tag. People spend $300 on Video iPods easily, and here you get a Blu-Ray player, video game player, and a media center or sorts.

Think carefully about who you are talking about. Casual and non-gamers will not pay $600, $500 or even $400 for LBP. The 360 sells at $400 to hardcore gamers, casual DO NOT by 360s. iPod sell because everyone loves music, not everyone loves video-games, and last I checked iPods came in MANY different cheaper variations (nano, shuffle, etc...).
