LittleBigPlanet, Socom, and Resistance 2 could easily

sell a million each this holiday season. Worldwide, LittleBigPlanet has about 750,000 sold so far. Socom and Resistance 2 roughly have 300,000/350,000 sold but they haven't been released in Europe yet. In fact, they are both being released in the next few days. Once Christmas rolls in a million could easily be attained. That's good stuff!

I love SOCOM, even if it is a bug fest. I hope Little Big Planet does ok, I bought mine but between SOCOM and Gears 2, I haven't played it that much.milsvaard

I borrowed a copy from my friend and I think LBP is great. I haven't even started building levels yet but I just love the concept.

I think Socom has been delayed in Europe till next year :(bethwo

It sucks that it was rushed out, but at least the updates are coming and things are looking promising.

LBP and R2 are selling terribly.   Even if they do sell one million copies, I would still consider the titles a financial failure.  Heck,  according to Sony, these titles were supposed move consoles...but they can't even move copies of the game.

Wii Sports and Play continue to murder Gears 2 on a monthly basis.

Oh, so you have access to Sony's internal financial statements?  Share, will ya?

Look, do you really think the people are Sony are happy with the current sales figures?    If you say yes, do you think they are as happy as the developers of MGS4 and Gears2?

So far they are financial failures.  Things could improve (but I don't think they will even reach FableII levels), sure, but right now they are duds.

People need to stop bringing Gears of War 2 up. It's one of the best selling games this generation, and it's hard as hell to do nearly as well as that. You can't always compare everything to the best of the best. Compared to other games this generation, Litte Big Planet and Resistance 2 are both doing fine.

Seriously, if any game manages to sell over one million, then that's a damn achievement in its own right.

Someone please post a link to Epic stating that they have sold 2 million copies of Gears 2.

VGcharts posted on the Sat. afte its Friday release of selling 1.5 million copies, now someone please tell me how VGcharts got numbers that soon. I haven't seen anything from Epic stating its sells. But I did see Epic screaming about Piracy, rentals, and tradein/used games taking away from sells of games. Piracy was a week prior to release, and the rentals subject was the day of release they were talking about that.

Please post links to Epic stating its numbers or even MS stating Sale numbers of Gears2, thanks ahead of time :)

The way I look at it, more people=more great levels to try out and more people to play with.

No sales dont make a great game, but EPIC makes great games and the reason they made a great game was because Gears of War 1 sold really well.

Admittedly, Gears of War 2 sales were impressive, and it's a great game, but I don't know where you got the 5-6 million figure from (although I'll trust you got it from a reliable source). Despite this, how exactly is 1.5 million shooting for over 3 million? Pretty much everyone I know who's bought Fable 2 has traded it in - at least people stick with Resistance 2, Little Big Planet and SOCOM. SolidGame_basic is only being positive about initial relatively low sales for the games mentioned - he's not comparing them to any other games.

The fact is, it's just nice to see the underdog do well, which let's face it these games are (although they shouldn't be). Sony should have marketted more, and these games could have gone much further -not enough people know what LBP involves, so don't know that they should buy it (sorry - I just love it).  To be honest I don't quite understand Resistance 2's slow sales, but I have faith that they will pick up, as soon as people realise how great the game really is.

2.5 million for 2 years maybe 3 million last I heard. MGS4 sold like 3.5 to 4.5 million in 5 months.GreyFoXX4

Not that I think you should worry about sales anyway, but your numbers are way off.

Gears 1 was released November 9, 2006 and sold 2 million copies by December 5, 2006.

By January, Gears had sold 3 million copies worldwide.

March 2007, Gears is now roughly at 4 million copies sold.

Please, make liberal use of google next time.

Edit: For comparision, MSG4 also sold roughly 4 million ( a bit over actually) during it's first five months.

Resistance 2 is not helping ps3, god that game should be priced on $29.99 the worse game I've ever played this year.
