gears and halo were great but that was 07 can box owners stop living in the past? its like nintendo owners taling about golden eye or ps3 owners talking about one. yes thoses were great but the sun has set on them. lets live in the present in system wars from now on.

lets only talk about games that are less tahn 2 years old from on.

i know the box has had some good games in the last two years right? if not then they need to purchase a real current gen system. a sysytem that is competent.

We say stuff like that to prove that Developers are not doing ANYTHING anymore. just rehashes and milking.

How can we NOT talk about Past games?

sure there are alot of good NEW games and we talkabout the Future, BUT We like to critize the New with the Old because the Old left an impression on us and most likely made us into gamers.

Why not just talk about great games for the entire gen? Halo and Gears are still relevant today - I'm sure they get a lot more people playing them online than many of the recent PS3 exclusives - so they shouldn't be forgotten just yet.

Then again, PS3 owners don't have much of a choice, since they didn't have a single AAAe earlier than a year and a half ago. So in a way, they've only got recent games to talk about, due to that massive drought for the first few years. :)

*edit* I should probably add that older games are still awesome and should always be talked about.

Gears 2 came out November, 2008. That's less than two years go.

Halo 3 ODST came out a handful of months ago.

By your on logic, both those games are open for discussion - but that's ignoring that your logic is flawed to begin with.

You mean like the thread on the first page "i'm about to beat U2 and.........and it walks all over the Gears series.

Gears of War is still a fine example of current generation standards in games. And Halo 3 is far from being a "left behind" game, like some single player experiences such as Bioshock. It retains a highly active gamer community still playing the game today, as does GeoW 2.

This case you're making that we should limit discussion to games only from the past 2 years doesn't hold water, and lets face it, you're only trying to implement to suit your agenda. Any game can be open to discussion as long as it seems to contend with any current release, even if that is a last gen game (which I personally hold most don't).

If anything, it's the Gran Turismo fans who are living in the past. The last time they had a AAA game was 8 years ago (from the last generation) and it's GT3 they always fall back on to argue against Forza 2 and now Forza 3. Not GT4 against Forza 2 or GT5p against Forza 3, but a game from before GT series had any competiton in the sim racer field.

They talk about GT as if its always a AAA game, when the most current iterations are AA or lower. Again they sing their praises of a last gen title when it actually had AAA status. Talk about living in the past.

I see that it is always an anticipation of what is going to happen - many of us live in anticipation of the next fix - there is no end to this - hype after hype - there is no meaning to found here - we're all caught in this - seeking gratification in the games that will come this year -

Here they live in the future = with the occasional person who comes up and says "bah this is nothing like 1998"

2007 is the past, but then by that logic 2009 is the past and 2010 is a level playing field, I'm sure no fanboys would accept that though.bobbetybob
