LMAO If Nintendo's NX Ends Up Crushing the Competition

Not a fact, just a theory. Now here is my theory, with support evidence: PC has more hardware/software sales than all three consoles, not including Casual/Social. If consoles didn't exist people would just adapt, and buy form factor PC and buy those games on for it. Devs would just make the games for that system, and they'd all have better gfx and performance rather than doing the whole 820p/20fps.

To answer the bolded statement, Then why are more devs making games also on PC (or only on PC) yet not on other consoles? Did you see E3? Most of the PS/XB games were "console exclusive" and *Also on PC. Furthermore, why does PC have more AAAE games in development?

It almost seems like PC's golden age has come back. More devs than ever before are paying attention to PC than any other system, and we're not talking indy/social.

The N64 had such excellent games for the system. The GC itself was great and had good 3rd party support.

Nintendo crushed both of them last gen they can do this again thats why you see them both freaking out

Nintendo could sell 1,000,000,000,000 consoles and I'd still have zero interest. The game library doesn't interest me at all. I'm not saying they aren't capable of putting out a good console, because they have in the past. I'm not saying that their games aren't technically "good". Just that I don't care for them. As far as I'm concerned, Nintendo targets it's own audience, and isn't in direct competition with Sony or MS.

I haven't really kept with Nintendo news but is this NX a new upgraded console more or as powerful as current gen consoles? If so and if it has Wii U and even Wii backward compatibility and less than $499, I would get that day one.

If people only want PC/Nintendo now, why are PS4 sales so astronomically higher than Wii U? The Wii U is still not past the Dreamcast at this point, it's essentially already a dead platform. Nintendo didn't crush anything last gen, Wii was a fad, and even with it's install base it lost any meaningful third party support less than half way through it's life and quickly became completely irrelevant to anyone who wasn't a strict Nintendo fanboy. For it to have "won" last gen, and have such a paltry library of games, is stunning, to say the least.

Considering the running start Wii had before the casuals all moved to mobile gaming, it should have ended the gen much further ahead than PS3 and X360 as it looks like it actually will end up being. That will end up being the single most hollow victory in the history of the gaming industry.

Hmm, that would mean that the consoles are an after thought for most developers seeing as how their are more games released on PC compared to consoles, correct?

Because the system was bought up by non gamers who got their quick fix out of Wii sports and then the system proceeded to become an epic dust collector. It was a secondary console for most core gamers.

I remember when the Wii was about to be launched I was hype'd for the "revolution"... I don't think Nintendo has what it takes to be honest with you, ever since Iwata took over its been getting worse with each generation of consoles.

It really wasn't, PS1 had like 7000 games and sold 102 million, N64 had like 300 games one of the smallest libraries ever and sold 32.93 million. And even if you argue quality>quantity the droughts on the N64 was ridiculous. Just because people still want to play the 20 games that are actually good, doesn't make it as legendary as people make it out to be. Nostalgia is strong, but the PS1 was a much better console.

After the SNEs Nintendo consoles have always been secondary consoles, if you get one as a primary console you have to love every single Nintendo franchise to avoid major droughts and a tiny library..

Wii was a fad, sold millions to old folks homes and rec centers and died out after a couple years...in the gaming community it was a distant 3rd

I didn't notice any droughts for the N64. It had great 3rd party support and hidden gems. Its 3rd party support was not as great as the SNES but it was still great. It seemed like everyone won that gen.

I think both of you forgotten that GC had another competition then PS2, Xbox also came into the fray and that right there put Nintendo in 3rd place despite GC had good games like Melee, Resident Evil remake, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, and to name a few. Xbox had cooler exclusive games like Halo CE, DOOM 3, Blinks, and more so yes, GC didn't do so well when Xbox release before GC and I was there to pick those consoles up day one.

@davillain-: I haven´t forgotten anything, the GC is a great console and has really great games, I do have a GC but where the GC failed miserably was with the format in where the software was installed, mini dvds only have a 1.5 GB capacity opposed to regular dvds that have a capacity of 3 times more ( double layer up to 8.5 ish ) which was what the competition used to install their software. Such poor choice of storage media is where Nintendo starts to fail when it comes to 3 rd party games and the drought begins, besides, when you do get a 3rd party game you get a watered down version simply because the dev can´t put all the game in such small storage device.

THIS is fact..its just difficult for some to understand the importance of console gaming. I mean..without consoles,how much influence would gaming have had on the public? With just pcs its just...well..PC's....With consoles its been Nin,Sega,Atari,MS,Sony,NeoGeo,Turbografx,along with others,PLUS handhelds..ALthough I like gaming on all platforms MINUS handhelds..Gaming today wouldnt be where it is without consoles..PERIOD..

Gaming wouldn't be where it is without PC either. It has made some of the most popular (if not THE most) genres we play today.

PC leads gfx revolutions and tech, which powers future console gens. Most hardware sales are on PC to fuel these companies and progress. PC has the most gamers, developers, AAA games, total games, hardware sales, and gaming sales (all by far) than any other one system every gen.

Both PC and the 3 console companies are needed. You can't just say "NO PC AND LOL WHO CAREZ" when it has all the stuff I listed above.

I really don't trust them after that e3 digital event. The Wii U was suppose to be built to last alongside the PS360's successors and it's now already dead. It came out Q4 of 2012 and it is dead Q4 2016? Who the **** would invest in a console a 4 year life span? With PlayStation you know you'll get close to a decade but Nintendo is just eww. They are worst than Microsoft when it comes to this because of no 3rd party support.

You do realize that means absolutely NOTHING when it comes to determining whether or not the NX will bomb. The fact you think they've never made a mistake twice (which many would argue they have) isn't gonna stop the NX from bombing if Nintendo again completely misreads the market and creates another poorly designed console.

What competition? The PS4 and Xbone or the PS5 and Nextbox? The PS4 and Xbone have already completely stomped Nintendo out this gen, forcing them to basically retire their failed console early and focus on another one. PS4 and Xbone already have captured the market for this gen, game over. The real competition for the NX will be between the PS5 and Nextbox, so it's impossible to tell whether it will "crush the competition" until we know more about those future systems which won't be for a while.

Lets see if 3rd part devs embrace ir or or continue to miss some of the biggest video games of the generation.

I would love for the NX to be competitive next gen overall.

Honestly, I'm kinda done with Nintendo at this point. Exclusives have basically become the sole lifeline for the Wii-U, and it's not nearly enough. The system is a bonafide failure. If the NX is their way of actually being on par with current gen hardware, it could still be too little too late at this point in the generation. It also doesn't help that they're waist deep in the past mentally, so they need to make a serious overhaul if they actually care to be a contender anytime in the future.

NX will be a flop. Nintendo has a lot of catching up to do to be fulfill the needs of the current gen gamer. They are still looking for the flash in the pan type of gimmick success to carry them to victory as the Wii, problem is that these type of random successes rarely happen more than once.

Don't forget, you can't count on the third party. Some of them flat out wont work with Nintendo and it's not just about power. It's about Nintendo fans just not buying third party games at all, it's about a poor previous working relationship and confidence. You are buying a new Nintendo console at this point for it's exclusives only. And look at the wii u.

You didn't get a zelda yet. Let that sink in. A lot of people bought the console for that game. They are delaying it, and it will no doubt eventually be on both consoles. You didn't get a metroid at all. None. Another of the Nintendo stalwarts that fans buy the console for. What did you get? Yet another mario kart. Yet another 3D mario, after they've basically worn out the series. More 2D platformers. Don't count on them to give you what you want, because you wont necessarily get it.

The Wii was simply put, an anomaly. The sales and support shows how it peaked very quickly then took a header. Regardless what the die-hard loyalists want you to believe, Nintendo is a mere shadow of its glorious NES/SNES self. The veteran company is becoming a punching bag of the gaming industry.

we all expected that with WiiU, look what happened. Nintendo is stuck in the 90's and keep releasing gimmicky shit aimed at kids and non gamers... it isn't crushing anything any time soon.

Nintendo gave Microsft all of Rares IPs just to keep old Donkey Kong games safe. This is more than just money to Nintendo, its a way of life.

network play is a huge investment nowadays. I fear nintendo has left this battleground ages ago, as for now it's kind of a stalemate with x1 and ps4, allthough ps4does have the edge , the x1 could end this war once and for all with windows 10.

Cause each Donkey Kong game sells around 2-4 million copies. Plus Donkey Kong has a much higher ceiling than Minecraft, thats the whole reason Minecraft was sold in the first place, the dude couldnt do much more with it, he had reached his limits. Donkey Kong can sell toys also like Minecraft, plus Movies, and everything else Minecraft does. But Donkey Kongs future is way brighter than Minecraft, its easy to make Donkey Kong part 2, Minecraft 2, not so much.

No one crushes anyone in the console market anymore. There seems to be room for at least three major consoles, each of them earning not insignificant revenue.

I just bought a wiiu. Don't need another console yet. A better question would be when is Nintendo going to release a new handheld and not just a DS with a gimmicky 3D screen.

@mesome713: Minecraft is in the top 10 in sales every month. It doesn't need a part two yet. It is rare to see a game carry on sales like that.

You put two investors side by side and no one will think twice about going with Minecraft.

They would have to rethink their strategy and gain some 3rd party support for that to happen. We will see, but I'm not going to take any bets on it..
