there are analyst groups that predict EU sails but they do it by country and not as one big market so you have to calculate them together afterwords... and I know vgchartz is a no no on this site but they actually get there EU numbers from those analyst.

NPD is NA only. Europe and Japan could easily make up for the other 250,000.

If the PS3 overtakes the 360 by lets say early summer 2009 as a lemming my hat will be off to Sony. But since I've had my 360 since winter 2006 I'll have had 2 and a half great years with my 360 and will likely know the name and release date of the next Xbox by then. So MS will have enjoyed a couple of years of solid profits in its gaming division, taken a very nice chunk of the overall sales pie, and have turned things around. All of this is hypothetical of course as the PS3 might not overtake the 360 at all or later into 2009 Whatever, lol. All I know is that for me the last 2 and a half years of 360 games have been the best gaming I've ever had and I've been gaming since the Genesis. I hope PS3 owners are enjoying their systems as much too.

One last topic. Japan will be the number 1 reason why the PS3 gets past the 360if it does at all. The PS3 doesn't kill the 360 in Europe the way the 360 usually does the PS3 in America. But in Japan MS can't sell a system if it came with free money, lol. So for Sony they can outsell the 360 worldwide every month because of Japan.

its funny that ms didnt report shortages until right before the NPD report was released. I sure as hell didnt see any shortages of 360s last month. And there arent any shortages on circuit city.com or bestbuy.com . And no other retailer reported shortages last month, so if there were shortages they were minimal, if you wanted a 360 in january, you could find one.
