GS: You were a second-party developer for Nintendo, but this didn't work out. What happened?

Dyack: We're not talking about business details. They wanted to move in a different direction than we did, so we parted ways.

GS: What direction is that?

Dyack: They wanted to create smaller and simpler games, and we wanted to make deeper and more-epic game experiences.

This was an interview from 2005, and I guess he was right. Now, do you think Nintendo should make more games like Twilight Princess and Super Mario Galaxy on Wii, or do you prefer the more casual approach with games like Wii Sports, Wii Fit, and Wii Music?

It doesn't really matter what we want. The simpler casual approach is what has the Wii selling at a record pace.

Dang, Denis Dyack. You were so right that parting ways led to you creating the awesomeness that was Too Human. I give you major props on that move.

To answer your question, I want both... I love deep games, but as i've aged and gained more responsibilities I enjoy the pick up and play games for what they are. I think there is a place for both, and I think Nintendo has proven this....

Yeah, that's true. Wii Fit gave me abs of steel.:P It's a perfect little gaming device and workout device (not the best, but it's alright!) all in one. It's nice to get that daily morning burn before heading into the office hellhole.

It should be a game about you (Denis Dyack) having to defend yourself against a horde of women, and at the end, you'll be able to have a dating game with the few remaining women, and you'll get to choose which one lives and which ones die.

No you still missed my point.

You and Bioshock said Wii Music scored better than Too Human because the Wii has lower standards.

With that way of thinking, isn't EVERY 360 game better than EVERY Wii game?

Super Mario Galaxy scored a full point higher than Banjo.

But since the Wii has lower standards, does that mean Banjo is automatically better?

That's what I'm wondering. Because if this is the new way of thinking it'll catch on quick.

Funny thing is, Too Human would have been an average to above average quality title on the Wii, based on the shovelware filling that console's gene pool.

Nintendo has always been the king of platformers. I don't think many will argue against that. But what I meant is that the Wii has lower standards because it's sold on its "casual" nature, thus review standards aren't the same as a hardcore gaming machine like PS3, 360, or PC.

Super Mario Galaxy definitely caters to the hardcore, though. It wouldn't be in my top 3 favorites of this gen if it didn't.

Eh, the man made one of the most praised Sheep games in the entire last gen, and I'd argue that the average Wii game is worse than the average GC game... So do you think I'm wrong? Too Human is basically in the same arena as Red Steel for quality, and I've heard plenty of Sheep praising Red Steel.

You know the standards curve isnt linear, the Wii has better standards when it comes to platforms as BSO has stated. On the other hand, on the lower end, because there is so much shovelware and the lack of quality being released, Wii Music has scored higher despite being a worse game Go take a trip to Gamerankings if you dont believe me. We use GS for flop or not flop statuses but in reality you go out and buy a game on many reviews and tastes and not just one review

I don't see how. Mario has always been casual.

It's marketed as a game that anyone and everyone can play, and is very easy to get into.

[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]Super Mario Galaxy definitely caters to the hardcore, though. It wouldn't be in my top 3 favorites of this gen if it didn't.

I don't see how. Mario has always been casual.

It's marketed as a game that anyone and everyone can play, and is very easy to get into.

A hardcore game doesn't have to be difficult and convoluted. Mario is a franchise that can be loved by casuals and hardcores, and that's because it has something for both of them. Being more than a glorified mini-game is probably part of it.

[QUOTE="Shafftehr"][QUOTE="Zhengi"] If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas.

And this gen he has made one of the worst games. How the mighty have fallen after moving to the 360... much like Rare!

Right, and they were so awesome on the Gamecube with amazing titles like Starfox Adventures. Since the 360, no game has gone below 8.0. But considering you call anything and everything a flop, and you are Sheep to the core, ill let you believe what you want.

Hey, don't knock new Rare games without trying them. As a long time Nintendo supporter (well, UNTIL this gen), I'd argue that the Viva Pinata games are among the best they've ever made. Maybe not quite Goldeneye level, but...

I notice you didn't answer my question. Though, I don't see why you would... Red Steel, which Sheep praise, got 65% at GR... Too Human, one of the most reviled games on the 360 which is considered to be Dyack's fall from grace, got a 69%. The sad thing is, if he'd made that game for the Wii, Sheep looking for "serious" games would be praising it, much like Red Steel... And we both know it. Though, in fairness, even some desperate Lemmings went on about Too Human...

So Galaxy IS better than Banjo because it caters to the hardcore as well as the casual, thus escaping overrated reviews due to the low Wii standards.

While casual-only games get overrated because they're affected by the very same low standards Galaxy and friends didn't fall victim to.

Leave him alone, hes so 1337, he played GTAIV for 15 mins and goes around bashing it. Sheep know the future, you gamers with your high scoring games know nothing...

Eh, the Wii does have some legitimately great games on it. It's just, the ratio of great games to utter garbage is really, really bad, and easily the worst on any console this Gen, so it has Sheep pretty pathetic.
