I'm a huge fan of horror games & movies so I'm looking for a scary horror game that i can play on my PS3, or if i can get it off PSN. I've played the Resident Evil series except for RE5 and Code Veronica also played only the intro of Silent Hill 3. Left 4 Dead was great on PC for one week then everything got repetitive and lost it's challenges. I've only played the Dead Space demo and found it a little to futuristic for a horror game setting but tell me if im missing out. So you can say I like horror games where I'm kind of at a disadvantage due to bad camera angle, slow character, low ammo, etc.

.

Keep in mind that I DO NOT find the following movies scary; The Grudge, The Ring, The Shutter. RE1 was pretty creepy for me because of the slow walking zombies in a deserted hallway with no way out but to run past the zombie, and what made it even scarier was the clunky controls and camera angle. I also hate cheesy english dubbs because it will kill the moment

.

So please recommend a horror game for me on the PS3/ PSN that I can enjoy playing it @ 2:00AM with the lights off. Serious answers only because I will really buy.

Demon's Souls isn't really shockingly scary and its significantly more RPG then horror, but its insanely tense. With other horror games dying is rarely an issue other than a trip back to the last checkpoint after a gory death that loses shock value after a while, with Demon's Souls you are all alone in a terrible world that is out to get you full of ugly inhuman demon monsters that will immolate you into nothingness in one lazy swipe and cause you to lose all your progress that level if you are not careful.

SH 2 scared the poop out of me and proboly still can. Siren for PSN is also a very very good horror game. Its also hard at times cause the zombies cant die. They can only be basicly knocked out for only a limited time. The suffering atmosphere is well done. It is genualy creepy at times and the monsters are creative and also have a background to how each came to be. It does have a sequel while not as good as the first imo its still worth the pick up.I recomend these4 easly.

I want Demon Souls but I fear it might be like playing GOW3 on Titan Mode because i will get frustrated, stress and pull my hair out. So if it's that level of frustration then i wont get it.

Just play the Siren demo it should be on PSN. I recommend at least playing that. I don't get scared by horror movies/games; neither did that game scare me, but it made me smile. It was a good looking horror game.

the game isn't as difficult or as frustrating as some might claim. sure, if you make a mistake you can lose a lot of progress, but the game is usually fair about it, and allows you to redeem yourself. the fact that the game offers you so many herbs throughout, the incredible usefullness of the online component, it's really not that bad at all.

easily one of the best experiences in gaming released this gen, it won't feed your hunger for horror though, not in the slightest. it might be a little disturbing at times and a bit pretentious with the conflict of faith within the game, but overall it's awesome.

i dont see what the setting has to do with how good a horror game can be... try dead space... its one of my favourite new ips this gen. There are probably scarier games..but i think this is scary enough as it is..

Dead Space.IceBlazerX

Seconded.

I progressed through every corridor weapon raised because I expected enemies right around the corners. The game will catch you unaware many times. I jumped quite a few times in Dead Space.

It's a great game. Just one thing - be sure to stomp all the dead bodies you see till their limbs are separated. Trust me.

I heard some people say Forbidden is scarrier because it's the Japanese version? like how the Asian versions of Grudge, Shutter is sacrier than the Hollywood remakes

I'm very tempted to get dead space because i do love the jumpy/ silent moments. but i fear it will lack in comparison compared to the original PS2 horror classics.

From what I can recall blood curse is just a reimagining of the PS2 version. So while there are new characters some of the other characters and scenesresemble ones from the PS2 version. It also still retains similer gameplay building blocks.

You can find the Blu-ray version on ebay for the same price you would pay for the digital version now. I say go with the physical copy the digital version takes up 9 gigs.

Silent hill 2 is the best in the series and very scary and had a good story. The suffering is not scary at all, and the story is medicore, but gameplay awesome. Clock tower 3 is like all CT games you run monster looks for you, you hide and wait for him to go away, solve some puzzles , gameplay is like what i said earlier you run hide etc..., then you fight bosses, which is the coolest part. Fatal frame forgot the story but you use cameras to defeat the enemy, and it's really scary (don't want to spoile much so i'm gonna stop).

The original Siren is probably the scariest game I've played, but it does have some poor English voice work (and some great voice work), it's very difficult, and it's almost impossible to know what to do without a guide.

However, if you do play it, it's a thoroughly rewarding experience and in the end I think what it brings to the table far outweighs it's flaws.

I want to play the game to get the real ending (I got the ending with the boy listening to rock music and killing monsters with the sword or whatever was that weapon) but I left my game in Kuwait (I had the korean version) and I'm right now in Canada == so probably I wont be able to get the game till next summer holiday :_:.

TC, you should play Silent Hill 2 & 3. While they're not really scary they do offer pretty good stories especially part 2.

I found SH4 to be pretty scary. It gets counted out of the SH series for being different, but I think it was a great game.

It was a good games. I just think it should of been counted as a spin off rather than a main entry.

Yet you're promoting Catherine as scary?

Kashiwaba

Hes acting tough :P, i bet he didn't play siren alone like i did .

LOL true I didn't play it alone xD I was playing it with brother and some friends lol so probably thats why I didn't think it was scary but I will still say the first one was scarier.

Really? I played like halfway through the first one and the impression I got was that it was much harder then blood curse. I found blood curse much more scary then the orginal PS2 one. Especially the little girl part. Also its a bit unfair to say a game is not scary when you got a group of people with you hanging around.
