Yeah, with it's unbelievable RAM requirements under a Deferred Renderer and its massive performance hit to do 4xMSAA, not to mention the fact that it is completely and utterly broken in UE3 because UE3 does all of the post processing after it resolves the MSAA samples(thus undoing 95% of the work that the MSAA is doing).
Yeah, lets just sign right up for 4xMSAA despite the fact that it is a steaming pile of **** for a game that renders things the ways the Gears of War 3 is....
I don't care, I want it. Epic needs to hurry up and port the game onto PC.
I'm pretty sure my computer can do x64 AA on this game, no problem.
No. They switched to Deferred Rendering for Gears 3. The G-Buffer is large by default and is multiplied for ever MSAA sample that you use. As an example of a game where I KNOW the G-Buffer size... BF3 has an 18MB G-buffer at 1280x720. Running at 32xMSAA at 1920x1080(what you would presumably want to play at) would mean that the G-Buffer is 1.327GB of G-Buffer. Do 64xMSAA and it is 2.65GB of G-Buffer... Just in BUFFERS your game would be using nearly 3GB of VRAM. That is beyond stupid.
